I'm not over Burgerville as a chain, but I'm definitely over this location. When the national chains have a better track record of getting your order right, and making it taste decent, you should know you have a problem. I ordered three sandwiches, and two fries. They packed the bag is such a way that if I had tried to check to make sure it was all there, I would have had fries all over my car, so I just felt the outside of the bag and thought it was right. It wasn't. I got back to the office, and had to spend another 15-20 minutes getting there and back, and 10-15 minutes at the store to get them to fix it. I wasn't given any apology at first, but was kind of given an apology once I finally got the food. It wasn't very believable, though, and I encountered two other people taking their food back while I was there - one because it was cold, and the other because it was just bad.
I also had to wait outside in the cold while it was being prepared, because of staff "safety." That walk-up window is a permanent change. This isn't for staff safety, this is because of staffing problems and because they realized they didn't want to deal with having dine-in. It's an excuse, and it's lazy.
I also realized that I've been ordering the bacon cheeseburger because I remember how good it was back in the "cheesy, so cheesy, so Tillamook cheesy" days, but it hasn't been good in more than 10 years. If they season their hamburger at all, they don't do it right. The lettuce is flat and lifeless, and it's just a bad sandwich all-around. The chain has run off the rails, and with some good, big players coming into the area, the quality problems are causing them to lose their local love. It used to be the place to go for hamburgers, but now I don't know of anyone that even likes it anymore. Sad to see this happen to something that's been a Portland institution since before I was been born. George would be...
Read moreThis particular Burgerville in my opinion, he is always a little bit unkept, it needs cleaned outside, walkways, around the dumpster and at the base of the building seem to need general tidying visually speaking. The lines need painted in the parking lot and some general cleanup in patrol around the drive-thru could really add a lot of sparkle and shine to the location.
Though the staff seem to change hands relatively soon like many fast food restaurants, the one thing I can say about Burgerville is that they do have employees to seem to care and connect with the customers and they are personal and look you in the eye when they speak with you. They don't always get the order right but they do their very best at getting you the correct order as quickly as they possibly can and apologizing for it which shows a lot of class.
They have a lot of great items on their menu including many local and seasonal choices as well as some unique milkshakes and other treats that are very nice. Prices, they can be a little high and the quality though it seems good doesn't seem any higher in my personal opinion then many other restaurants where the same food is cheaper. That said, I do eat here a little bit more frequently in order to help support a local business as opposed to a national chain. Burgerville has been known for many years to donate to hundreds of charities and supporting our local community events and they specialize in different events that forward diversity of all kinds. I believe in one hand washing the other and for their kindness, I extend them my...
Read moreI had never visited a Burgerville before, and I've been wanting to try it. So we were nearby in Portland and decided to give it a go. I was let down, and I won't be going back to any location after this. I got the double cheeseburger, which was very small; the size of a McDouble, but it was over 6$ for a tiny kid-sized burger! You know at McDonald's you can get the same sized burger, with fries, nuggets, and a drink all for a dollar less. The patties were DRY, like little hockey pucks, and were completely flavorless. I actually usually love small burgers so the size isn't an issue for me, but the price, the dryness, the lack of flavor... I had to drown the little burger in ketchup to make it edible. The patties were probably old and had been sitting around. I expect a place with "burger" in the name to have decent burgers at the very least, but nope. It sucked. The fries were decent, although soggy, not crispy. I don't much mind a soggy fry myself but I'm sure others would. And 5$ for a "large" fry, but the bag was pretty small, maybe more like a small or medium fry. Very underwhelming. Do you know how many more fries I can get at Five Guys for one or two dollars more? At LEAST quadruple the amount. I will say the shake was delicious. I got a strawberry shake, there were tons of bits of fruit inside and it tasted better than a Sonic shake. The prices were insane here also, completely not worth it. A kid's meal (kids burger came slathered in more sauce than meat, had to wipe it off for my kid), two burgers and two fries and a shake cost about 35$....
