Unfortunately, I had a bad experience with this particular gym. Since I work 2nd shift, I figured I would join a gym that was open 24 hours. I was planning on scheduling my workouts after midnight after I got off work. Unfortunately, the day after I signed up, I was let go by my job. Anyway, I knew I couldn't afford to spend the extra money so I planned on cancelling after the month went by. (No refunds on the initial fee, right?) Due to my forgetfulness, I forgot to cancel and I was billed for another month. OK. That was my own fault. I waited for the billing cycle to come around and I called a couple of days beforehand to cancel. The "kid" who answered said I had to give 3 days notice before cancelling and that I would be billed another $50. If it wasn't paid, it would be sent to collections. And of course this couldn't be done over the phone. Of course, I was furious. So again I was billed another $50. So I waited until the next billing cycle and went in to cancel. This time I met the owner. I must admit he was a nice person but when I said I wanted to cancel, he said I would be billed yet ANOTHER $50!!!! I advised him that I was following what his employer told me. Of course, he threw the contract in my face showing me that you had to give a 30 day notice. Of course, this was the small print on the contract and when I originally signed up, nothing was said about this. I find this type of business to be deceitful. Why couldn't he use the time I tried to cancel before as my notice? Of course, there was nothing in the computer saying that I tried to cancel. So in the end, I paid $250 for something I didn't even use and that money could have gone for something else more important. Like I mentioned to the owner, this is not a good review!! I can only speak of his charging, not the gym because I never got a chance to experience that. I can assure you that I will not recommend ANYONE to use this gym. If you do, make sure to read all the fine print. They say they have a $50 a month special but it cost $100+ to join. It's how they phrase things. It seems no one there is on the same page and Customer Service Training is atrocious! He basically called me a liar when I said I was doing what his employee said, to come in three days before it was to renew....
Read moreAnytime Fitness in Prescott Valley continues to hold the top spot for me as the cleanest and most well equipped gym, with the greatest staff, that I have ever patronized.
To be clear, I’ve been a member of larger gyms over my lifetime (yes, I’m a senior citizen…), but that doesn’t mean those larger gyms were better equipped–they just had more space for duplicate equipment. As for friendliness, just the nature of large gyms, with a large number of staff and multiple hundreds of gym members, tends to reduce that neighborly atmosphere that exists in smaller gyms.
The folks at Anytime Fitness in Prescott Valley have made wise choices as to the type of equipment and the layout of the gym. The equipment available includes; cardio equipment; spinning rooms; group exercise classes; strength-training and Smith machines; cable cross-overs; power racks; and free-weights. Whew! (No, I don’t have stock in the company…)
More specifically, regarding the great staff at Anytime Fitness, I’d like to compliment Leanne (Owner) for her decision to bring Joe on as the manager. Over the past year I’ve seen a lot of staff come and go–office staff and trainers alike. As an old-school type of person, I prefer a consistent environment at home, work and, yes, the gym!
Joe has a magnetic personality and an absolutely disarming smile. You can’t walk into his office to complain about some patron turning off the ceiling fans in the back room without breaking into a smile and apologizing to Joe for how your petty complaint is keeping him from running the facility. When I see Joe walking through the gym, while I’m working out, he always takes a few moments to say hello to me and make sure that things are going well with my workout.
The staff at Anytime Fitness in Prescott Valley seems to be the perfect fit for both the size and location of the gym. PLEASE DON’T EVER...
Read moreI've changed this review for a 3rd time now. I will say that this location is a great gym and what it offers makes it one of the best around. HOWEVER, after the experience I had I would NEVER make this my home gym again. The communication is horrible! I've witnessed people being let in by members with the intent to sign up for a membership, and no staff being present during their staffed hours. I've called to ask questions and had to call the Prescott location to get basic things answered. THEN the icing on the cake is I canceled my membership on April 22nd. I went in and the employee told me the last payment I'd have come out would be on the 23rd. I get another payment out on May 7th. I call and leave a message before the gym opens. I called back 8 times during their staffed hours, and no one answered. I leave a negative review on Google and get a response within the hour on the review itself. I email them and at about 4pm I finally get a call back stating the owner said I'd not only get a refund for the payment on the 7th but the one on the 23rd as well. I get a response to the email I sent on the 7th today, the 8th. Stating that the payment on the 7th was the last one with no mention of the refund I was promised (and didn't even ask for!). I feel like this place is great and I assume the guy who told me the information was new BUT that doesn't take away from the utter lack of communication that is present in the organization. This is just one experience but when you look at all the negative reviews the majority come from those who have canceled. I'd say make the Prescott gym your home gym and use this one as your main gym if you live in...
