RIDOH is a corrupt department within our state government. They CHOOSE which roviders they will punish and which ones they will ignore any complaints.
Especially when they are all friends and co-author papers with each other.
Do you think you are gonna get fair treatment when they can sweep their colleagues errors under the rug?
Just another corrupt department where rules do not apply for all equally.
How about Dr Philip Chan? Do the disciplinary rules apply to him the same as any other provider?
Apparently not when you co-author published papers together with numerous individuals like the previous director, the current interim director and other directors at the Department.
Their behaviors put all of RI Public Health and safety at risk to protect a colleagues reputation.
"Just Culture" is another RI marketing spiel in an attempt to appease the RI people. From RI's creation a "Just Culture" has not been achieved and does not apply equally to all. we are still a state, since colonial times, in which influence and power is still wielded by many to get the outcomes they desire, which is anything but a "Just Culture".
Implementing a culture of equal justice, or blind justice in RI's Medical community is all but impossible when doctors are STILL a self-regulated "profession". RI is such a small interwoven state, you have doctors who practice together, consult together, teach together, co-author research papers, and then expect a blind, "just culture", in a self-regulated profession, which has 5 times more preventable deaths each year, than gun violence and auto accidents COMBINED, known historically for it's abuse of influence & power.
Skirting evidence-based medical guidelines, adopted by the RIDOH, but NOT adhering to their very own directives for individuals of influence and power is a discredit to their profession and most importantly, the RI people whom you are in service of.
The ONLY way to obtain a "Just Culture" in RI is to support a NATIONAL medical review board, just like the NTSB. This manner of review for the health and safety of the American People would remove the influence and power yielded in local Medical Review Boards, creating a more independent review of the self-regulated profession of medicine.
People are human and not infallible, take away the significant OPPORTUNITY to influence outcomes and we become closer to a "Just...
Read moreIf I could give a zero I would. The licensing department is by far the most unprofessional group of people I have ever encountered in my professional career. I have been waiting 16 weeks for my APRN license. After weeks of trying to reach someone regarding my license, I had my employer reach out. I finally received a response from a Michele Monroe who basically scolded me for having my employer reach out. She directed me to their website to check my status. When I responded to her email letting her know that I have been on that page several times a day for the last several weeks and letting her know that the link “check my status” is broken leading you to a blank page, my emails were again unanswered. Turns out I needed to resubmit( because they didn’t get the first one sent directly to their department by NCC) verification of passing WHNP boards. I would still be wondering today if anything was needed had that Information not been shared with my employer. I have left several messages with supervisors — all have been unanswered. RIDOH also cashed the two checks sent for licensure several weeks ago but still couldn’t be bothered to answer any questions. Friday, August 13th, my APRN was finally posted. Today, August 17th, that license is once again pending and the license number has been removed. So here I sit without any way to communicate and wait yet again for it to be posted. I have no idea why it was taken down and I have a feeling I won’t receive any response to my inquiry regarding it. Absolutely unacceptable treatment!...

I am writing regarding Doctor-Patient-Relationship ,and who is bringing concerns with the erosion of trust which has had a detrimental effect with my current Doctor-Patient-Relationship.I would like the opportunity to request help with my concerns with his 'PCP' who should be helping me manage all of my healthcare. Most importantly I also have the right to play a role In my healthcare. The physician must complete the physician written certification renewal document and who has refuse to sign in further delaying patient safe access to Medical Marijunana Medication. Patient is on Medicaid and has $0 income cannot pay $25.00 and $90.00 dollars renewal with B&B.I have pleaded for help within regards renewal and fees , I say based on the totality of my situation any fees should be waive under permissible circumstances. B & B & DOH should make a difference in human being-Patient who has doctor recommendation to be legal medical-marijuana patient in Rhode Island ,B & B & DOH is not supposed to make money in particular needy/poor. Stakeholders, speakers and the public has suggested the fee should be waived

Ok, based on the guidelines the fee was reduced to $25 if you receive Medicaid. Also, you should try going to your primary care to have the form signed rather than going to B & B and having to pay a fee.
Kathleen Parker NP, S Im sorry--I refer to B and B and do not sign for Medical Marijuana cards--Kathy July 10, 2019
