Beautiful, well maintained park managed by the National Park Service. Conveniently located in downtown Providence. Walking distance to the State House Train Station, Providence Mall, shops along South Main Street and many more sightseeing landmarks. This is great for single people, couples, families with children and dogs. Every so often they have a dog poop dispenser. The walkways are brick lined and there are some beautiful stately trees and flowery bushes. A lush open grassy field along with plenty of park benches throughout and picnic tables located near the park store. Tremendous amount of history as depicted by the markers along the walk that provide info from 1636 when Roger Williams came to Rhode Island as a minister and then going forward to date. They have a park store that provides further information along with some souvenirs. If you visit their website by googling Roger Williams National Memorial you will see so much more information regarding education and culture along with events that take place in the park such as Piano in the Park, Photo Exhibits as there will be a calendar depicting each event. There are volunteer services available and so much more. Their website has a plethora of...

My family and I enjoyed our visit to the Roger Williams memorial! As a historian of religion in early New England, the information they teach there wasn’t new to me. However, the way they presented the information was incredible. I loved their attention to making the history of early Rhode Island applicable to our current political and religious landscape. Their parking lot and the fact that visitors don’t pay a fee to enter is another big bonus! The accompanying park is so peaceful and allows visitors to learn more about how Providence came to be and Williams’s role in creating a truly unique New England town. I visited with my infant. The visitor center is a bit too small to navigate with a larger stroller. I imagine it might also be a bit challenging for wheelchairs. However, we made it work. If you are in Providence, visit! They are teaching truly important history at this memorial, and we all benefit from...

Lovely national park, historic site, visitors' center. Beautiful place for some R&R, a picnic lunch (solo or with friends), and to learn some history about this lovely state, at your own pace and stress-free. (There's no quiz at the end. Laugh!) The ranger in the visitors' center is delightful. Despite the fact that this National Park is in the smallest state, at a whopping 4 acres it is NOT the smallest National Park. (There are more than 25 smaller national parks.) There are benches, picnic tables, parking spots (including HC). I am pretty sure I saw a bike rack. The park is well maintained; I noted no graffiti or other vandalism. It is easy to reach via RIPTA on the R-line and some other line/s. It is easy to reach by motor vehicle, and would be somewhat easy to reach by bicycle. (I cannot comment about the safety of bicycling in that area.) I truly enjoyed my visit and look...

Roger Williams National Memorial is a very nice 4.5 acre park located in the city of Providence. The park is a beautiful place to take a walk around in. There are some picturesque gardens and trees that provide a nice retreat from the city. The park also contains the site of a freshwater spring that provided water to the settlers of Rhode Island. The park also a small but neat visitor center that has exhibits about Roger Williams. There is a short five minute film about the life of Roger Williams and the history of Rhode Island that is worth seeing. The visitor center also has a nice gift shop that has park merchandise and books about Roger Williams. All and all, this a great place to stop in Providence. If visiting the city for the first time be sure to stop here. It doesn't take more than a half hour to see and it is within walking distance of many other great sites to see in Providence.
