UPDATE: occasionally a girl will rudely ask everyone running on the track, mid run, if they have a wristband. This happens sporadically and I’ve never seen one of the groups of club/teenage athletes that aren’t allowed to train on the track get kicked off. Often these groups run the wrong way on the track, take up multiple lanes, and literally run into the joggers and walkers. And often after the girl asks everyone on the track if they have a wristband almost everyone leaves and the track sits pretty much unused the rest of the night. Way to promote health and wellness in your community BYU. Not to mention, I saw this girl go up and hound on little kids with no wristbands. What the?!? Just talk to the parents lady! But, I still adore this indoor track. It saves me in the winter when I can't run outside because of the pollution or cold or ice/snow. It is 5 laps a mile, but it doesn't feel that different from the average 4 laps per mile. Does make it a little tricky pacing for workouts, but it gives my brain something to do while I'm in pain haha. They do have certain hours it's open, so check online before going! If you want it to yourself go on a Saturday afternoon. It's also starts to get less crowded...
Read moreGreat place to check out if you are a student at BYU.
For full time students that obtain a free wristband, there is an entire indoor track you can use when the track team isn't. You also get access to a gym on the second floor, although it is often times crowded and there can sometimes be a line.
All students are allowed a small locker (or several) to keep your items in. You just claim them at the beginning of the semester by putting a lock on the one you want and removing it by the end of the semester or they will just cut it off. There are always open lockers and the locker room is never crowded. There are showers too but I've never used those.
There are water fountains everywhere and bathroom near the track, the locker room and the gym whenever you need them.
I would highly recommend students take advantage of what BYU has to offer in this building for free simply for...
Read moreI have only ever used the student weight room part of this facility. The equipment they do have is okay, but there just isn't much there. This gym is really small and we pay way too much to be restricted to such a small, old facility, when simply being on a sports team gets you into the fancy stuff. As a service member, I need to be in at least as good of shape as anyone on the [pick your sport] team, but I have to go somewhere expensive to have access to everything they have. I still work out here cuz it's free, but BYU can do so much better. I've been to similar facilities at MUCH smaller schools that were ten times better than this, and all students can use it. Also, it's dumb that it closes early for things like education week. The field house of all places should have no need to have reduced hours for...
