This review is written by a Performer for my fellow Performers-
I have zero complaints about the venue itself or the staff. The sound engineer(who will remain nameless just in case) did an amazing job.
Negatives- My issues are with the owner and the severe lack of communication. It took me leaving a bad review for the owner to finally show me the ticket sales for the night after not responding to my texts weeks after I played there. Honestly, communicating with the owner was spotty from the get-go. 90% of the communication I had was between their sound Engineer- from scheduling the show, to finding bands, when to show up for soundcheck, and everything in between. He should be running the place if you ask me, he seems to be the only person knowing what’s going on around there.
Overall a bit unprofessional and unorganized as far as ownership is concerned. My name was misspelled on their website and after I sent a text about it; hoping to correct it- no response. He should hire a manager if he’s too busy to handle these simple logistics.
Positives- The staff was very professional and accommodating. Setup and soundcheck was a breeze. Attendees seemed to be having a pleasant experience. The venue itself was comfortable, the green-room was a great place to lounge around in and the rear-door access is perfect for loading in. I was pleasantly surprised by the size of the stage, it was very comfortable and spacious.
Final thoughts- This Venue has a lot of potential but I fear that the communication spottiness may deter bands or artists from wanting to perform here, it had me second-guessing a lot. Im not sure I would play here again, personally. Once again, I can’t give enough praise to the staff- they were excellent.
(Ps - I have edited my review to be a little less harsh because the Owner reached out to me to discuss logistics after I posted this review. While his texts did clear up some of the confusions on sales and tickets- it still took weeks to receive said communication. No business owner likes receiving negative feedback on a public forum but I have too much integrity not to share my honest...
Read moreWill not play here again. They don’t have their ownership figured out. No one showed up when we had our show. Sound guy wasn’t allowed to use the house system and had to bring all his own stuff including lighting. We weren’t even allowed to turn on the lights in the lobby - we had to bring our own lamps!! The venue out in zero effort to market the show - not even a single social media post. They kept changing the times on us and then wouldn’t respond for a week. The door deal wasn’t ever confirmed and they never gave us a breakdown of how many tickets were sold and then paid us some tiny amount compared to how many people were there.
I truly cannot believe that they’re still operating. There are so many bands since we played here that have had similar experiences. Word needs to spread that this venue is...
Read moreI've played 2 very big, important gigs at this venue. They've been nothing but accommodating! We've had some weird requests and the venue is always down. It seems their focus is more on the freedom and success of the band over everything else (within reason). And THAT is a rare thing around here!
Not sure what the 1 star complaint was about sound and feedback issues... We never had any of those troubles.
This venue has a stage bigger than the Velour (which really helps in performing), has a projector back drop and accommodated us on what lighting we wanted per song. Really made our show a unique experience. I feel like all other legit venues around here would not be this welcoming!
I highly recommend The Rise. A breath of fresh air for...
