Teuscher Chocolatesā Champagne Truffle has been my favorite for 40 years. It was a sad day when my local outpost closed. On December 24, I ordered two 16-piece boxes (one milk, one dark) online from Teuscher of Wayne, PA to serve on New Yearās Eve. I read all the shipping policy details on the website, including that the store does not ship on Fridays and that, if any concern about warm temperature, to ship one-day air (which will include an ice pack). Before clicking through online, I called the store (Wayne, PA) to confirm my Tuesday, 12/24 order would be processed and shipped on Thursday, 12/26, for delivery on Friday, 12/27, when local temperatures would be mild. With the clerkās firm assurance, I completed my online order. As expected, I received notice on Thursday, 12/26 that my order had been processed and scanned into UPS, with expected next day delivery. However, my order was not delivered to UPS until Friday. And, UPS did not deliver the chocolates to me until Monday evening, after sitting in a local UPS facility on Sunday, with afternoon highs on Sunday and Monday in the 80s. And, no ice packā¦. Needless to say, a melty mess. And, the milk truffles were packed in an oversized rectangular box with lots of space between the individual truffles, all of which damaged as they bounced around in their oversized packaging. But, accidents happen and this sad saga is not itself enough to warrant only the second or third negative review Iāve ever posted. Unfortunately, Teuscher of Philadelphia/Wayne could not be bothered to respond to my emails of 12/27 expressing concern for the delay in shipping, and 12/30 reporting the condition of the late arriving chocolates. Perhaps this will get their attention. I look forward to my next Teuscher Chocolatesā Champagne Truffle, but there is zero chance it will come from...

The shop is simply beautiful, a testament to good taste. Owner Andree and her charming assistant were there and we couldn't have been treated to a more lovely experience. We chatted about the history of Teuscher and, upon learning about our anniversary, they gifted us champagne truffles in honor of our 35 years together. We purchased a variety of truffles and all were of the highest quality. The highlights for us: the Dark Espresso truffle (rich with a deep coffee flavor), and the Dark Nougat (soft interior with a crunchy shell covered in additional ganache - more, please!).
If you have a discerning palate and aren't thrown by the cost of premium chocolate, Teuscher is the place for you. And if you simply want to understand the difference between high end vs commercially marketed chocolate, put down the Hershey's and visit Teuscher. You deserve the best....

Known worldwide for their premium confections, more specifically their famous and delectable Dom Perignon champagne-infused truffles (which are my personal favorite), Teuscher imports everything they sell from their home base in Zurich, Switzerland. That being said, they do not use any ingredients that are considered American or not considered authentically European or Swiss, including marshmallows, peanuts or peanut butter. They do, however, incorporate tree nuts (ie: hazelnut) into their confections. If it's not champagne that tickles your tongue, Grand Marnier vodka and Bailey's irish cream-infused truffles are just a few of the other varieties available. They also carry chocolate bars, fruit preserves, a variety of chocolate animals (cats, dogs, and owls, to name a few), and adorable little themed chocolate boxes that change with the season. Give Teuscher a try--you'll be...
