I've been taking classes here from NY for a few months now, and I would definitely recommend coming to this studio for a good training experience. The classes are varied, and expose the students to the different hip hop/urban choreography styles, and different levels of difficulty, so there's something for everyone, form beginners to seasoned dancers. And the teachers aren't so much focused on the choreography they teach as they are on how well you can execute the piece, and training you in ways that elevate your performance.
Aside from the caliber of teaching, the class prices are super cheap and affordable, and they have master classes at least once a month, sometimes more. The staff are super nice and well informed about what's going on, and can answer any questions you may have about the classes. They offer supplemental classes in yoga and fitness, as well as a freestyle class on Fridays, to help develop your personal style and creativity. There are also freestyle Jam sessions held regularly after classes on Fridays where you just go an interact with other members of the NJ community and dance, and get to know others. Many of the teachers are on involved with showcasing and competing teams, and being exposed to their styles, you can also see what each team brings to the NJ dance community, or even join in yourself.
All in all, it's a pretty unique studio, and I'd definitely encourage anyone to go and give the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWas looking for a place for adult hip hop for quite a while. I always wanted to take classes but was a bit intimidated despite doing partner dances for a long time. I can't say enough good things about my experience at the Hive. I go on Sundays for the beginner and advanced beginner back to back. I've learned so much in just a few classes. All four of the instructors I've had so far have been nothing short of absolutely amazing. Not only is the dancing so cool and I'm doing things that I never thought I could, but I can't remember the last time I've felt a more positive environment that has been so welcoming, so chill and so positive. Everyone encourages one another and the instructors make it clear that it's okay to mess up and there's actually something really great about messing up or completely blanking during a combo you've learned. We don't have to be perfect! The other students have also been very positive and welcoming to me as well. Such a positive experience. I find myself smiling through so much of the time spent there. I have nothing but positive things to say and I can't wait to continue my growth and learning...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI canāt say more incredible things about this studio. I just started last week, and have already signed up for a 10-class set. I take beginner hip hop and open contemporary, with absolutely no dance background. But after reading all the reviews before going, they live up to the hype and beyond. The instructors are all so talented, encouraging, supportive, and just overall amazing teachers. I did trial classes at other studios and no other studio has instructors that teach in such an effective way like Hive instructors do (Iāve done classes with Joseph, Milcah, and Andrewāall amazing). Iām so grateful that they encourage questions because as a new dancer I tend to have a lot, and knowing the instructors are willing to help makes the learning process so much better and less intimidating. I also love that even on the beginner classes, they still give us a good challenge. The choreography is always so much fun and full of quality. The overall vibe and energy of the studio is everything, and I truly canāt recommend this...
