Went into Fred Meyer Jewelers in Redmond this morning and had a horrible experience with their sales associate. I have purchased two engagement rings both with the lifetime warranty and care plan from them, one in 2012 which fell off in 2013 while tubing at a lake because they do not have the "tools or ability to do half sizes". I bought my replacement ring soon after again with the lifetime warranty and care plan (but had to have it sized by Cascade Jewelers).
I have brought the ring in on a regular basis to have it cleaned and serviced. Had a deep scratch in it which had to be repaired, put a coating on it another time, all covered and never a single issue.
I woke up this morning and noticed one of the smaller diamonds fell out so I went into the store to drop it off for a repair. Not only did I wait close to 30 minutes to be helped, but when I did I was disgusted by the service I received. I was asked if I bought the ring from them and if I had a warranty, to which I answered yes. Then I was asked if I ever had it inspected in March or April. I said no, I don't know what you mean. She then went on to explain that I am supposed to have my ring inspected every 6 months in March or April (which would mean once a year not every 6 months) and have a paper signed off saying it was inspected. I explained to her that never have I been told any of this information in 6 years, not when I purchased either ring or when I brought it in for repairs or cleanings (which were always covered). Her response to that was that she has no idea how I would not know this and that in two years of her working there she has "never heard of such a thing" and that if it was a recent purchase she would have maybe believed me and made an exception. (As if I would drop hundreds of dollars for this warranty JUST TO BE NULL AND VOID and never bring it in for an inspection when I am at Fred Meyers every single week, get real!) I asked for her manager and was told she was gone for two weeks, I asked for the day she was back and was told May 2nd (not two weeks). I then asked to have the corporate phone number to which she said she does not have it and that they won't do anything for me anyway. Unbelievable. She said as I was walking out that she "might" be able to look it up for me. Gee thanks, but don't trouble yourself.
By the time I walked to my vehicle I was talking to a gentleman at the corporate office who insisted that she had no right to say any of that and that they can absolutely open a case and look into getting the ring covered due to the very long history of no one doing their job and saying a single thing about an inspection! He also insisted that there is a complaint filed against the employee due to her complete and total lack of customer service. Good customer service would have been, "I understand your frustration and concern regarding the inspections not being disclosed, my manager is out until May 2nd and you are welcome to come back and speak with her then as I do not have the authority to authorize the repair or you can call the corporate office in the mean time, here is their number." Someone like this should never have a customer service job if you cannot even say something so simple. I have also reached out to the Fred Meyer store manager who is going to be sending the complaint higher up in the chain as he agreed that his was unacceptable. I will never purchase another piece of jewelry from them again! The last two people I sent there also had horrible customer service experiences.
Selling a warranty and not disclosing the requirements to keep that warranty active in my opinion is fraud. At the very least they should refund the money for the warranty and I will have my diamond replaced by a...
Read moreI spent around $300 on a citizen brand watch and when I came in to ask if they could help me a few months ago to set the time as the daylight savings time had changed. I was met with one of the most shocking responses. The young female with black hair told me I should learn how to set my own watch very matter of factly. I was stunned and replied with please don't condescend me. She then changed the time for me begrudgingly failing to correctly set the date herself. I also had an Oakley brand watch I was hoping she could help me set and change the battery like another nice girl that had worked there in the past with blonde hair and glasses had done. I would have gladly paid for the time and for a battery or whatever (the previous girl also helped me add and remove links from my watches and was very kind) since I hadn't bought that particular watch there, but she had no idea how to work that one. Pretty hypocritical right. She gave me a card for a watch repair shop in Bend, also strongly implying if I wanted my citizen watch time changed I had bought from Fred Meyer Redmond I should go there for that as well and not bother her. I will not be shopping there again or asking for their help and I would surely not recommend them how they operating at this present time unless you like being made to feel like a jerk. I hope that young girl finds Jesus because there's something wrong going on there. I was planning on buying a silver chain to put around my neck, and another watch in the future, but I sure won't be buying it there. Wish I had something better to report but that's the truth and I just thought about it today and thought I would be doing a disservice if I didn't share the story so hopefully they improve and also the public...
Read moreDid an awful job, resizing and soldering my three rings together. Off-center, messy, and different shapes. Some rings cannot be soldered together flush, however, this set could. I brought it back in and the manager was completely dismissive of me except “I guess the stone is slightly off center”. Acted like I was being overdramatic. This is my wedding set! I brought it to Fred Meyer Jewelers and paid them a substantial amount to customize it for me, it’s obviously important to me. I told her it needed to get fixed. When I went to pick it up, they 1000000000000% hadn’t done anything to it and she pretended that they did. I took very detailed pictures before I dropped it off, nothing changed. Felt defeated, said oh yeah sooooooo much better. Whatever, just took my ring and left. It was a brand new set. Now my rings have dents all along the sides from where he re-shaped them (did a terrible job, notice how they don’t match up?) and didn’t smooth it out. My jewelry was not treated with respect, nor was I by management. I am not a difficult customer, I am kind and fairly easy to please. They charged me nearly $400 for this and now I have to pay that again to have a real jeweler to fix it. I don’t know how to reach corporate as it just keeps forwarding me to the store for customer service. This is...
