I’ve been eating here since I was a child and today I had some extra time so I decided to take my daughter after school since we don’t get a ton of alone time together. For as long as I’ve been going the same waitress has been waiting on me or my family. 50/50 that she’s there or that she serves your table from what I’ve seen. She’s kind and often funny(she pretends to forget your order, or she will switch up your plates as a joke, maybe pretend to be mad at you.). She knows her stuff and I think anyone who is a regular would remember who she is with a happy memory. The food at this location is your comfort Tex Mex and the margaritas are good and reliable. I think most people from Central Oregon go here for a meal they know will be the same each time and a generally positive experience. I always get the seafood burrito and it brings me the same consistent comfort each time. Today since it was just me and my daughter, when she had to go to the bathroom(she’s 4) we had to take our things with us although I did leave a sweater just in case they thought we had left. We were not half way through our food and the check had not yet been brought, but when we got back, the table was being bussed. I can see why, it honestly probably looked like we had already paid. Rather than cause a scene we just went to the front to pay. I didn’t really think there was much that could be done and the food and service had been good despite the situation. Our waitress was obviously surprised we were leaving early and offered several times to get us another meal or to send one home with us, and while that was super sweet at that point we just decided it would be easier to go home. I wasn’t mad or upset or short, just really was ready to go. She insisted on no charge for the meal. We still ate and it was still good, so as far as I’m concerned paying would not have been out of the question and I already had my card out and ready, but she would not let me pay. She has given me so many wonderful memories in my life, but today really topped things. So thank you. We will be back 100 times again. Just feeling like a very sentimental local at this moment....
Read moreDecided to dine out on a Thursday evening. We were greeted and quickly sat. We were served the chips and salsa, the chips were stale unfortunately. We waited 15mins until the person filling our water finally asked if we ordered drinks. Shortly after, our waitress came to the table and took our dinner order. I ordered the camaron salad (spicy shrimp) $21, the boyfriend ordered the carne asada $28. Our drinks came out and were okay. I had the specialty Boss margarita $10, the boyfriend had a standard house margarita $15. Our food came out, first appearance was good. As I began to eat my salad I realized that it seemed extremely soggy as if they ladled the shrimp, mushroom and onion sauce onto the salad. I have had similar salads and never had basically a soup salad combo. It was extremely unappetizing and I decided I didn't want to eat anymore than the few bites I had. The boyfriend's dinner was "sub-par" by his words. Our waitress stopped by after a good while to check on us. I said my dinner was okay and she asked if I wanted something else, I declined. After the boyfriend finished eating our table was cleared and we received the check from our waitress with nothing said. They did comp my meal but then charged us for the wrong margarita that was $12 instead of the $10 marg. We didn't bring it up because at this point we just wanted to leave. We did wait about 5-10mins for our waitress to run our card and finally gave up and went up front to pay. Needless to say we wont be returning. Something of note, we are locals and in the past have had decent service and food. But for the price we might as well go to a slightly more expensive place like Carnaval or Diego's. This area is flooded with hispanic food so the competition is high, there really isn't a lot of room to be messing...
Read moreBeautiful setting, lighting, paintings -loved the setting. Staff were excellent, friendly, kind, attentive to checking in/topping off waters. Food came lightning fast -leaving us kinda like- hmm how fresh made is this? I don't know.
4 stars only because my wife and I have a couple other local Mexican restraunts that have much MUCH more intense flavors in the food/meat for the money. We got a verde burrito w/beef. An enchilada and chimichanga with shredded beef. It was good, fair portions. But flava-town was missing, we only know this by experiencing flavor at other local mexican restaurants.
For our visit, everything was spot on, just need that fresh foods creative flavors that we found elsewhere locally. Thank you.
Salsa for chips was very flavorful...
Also the wife's opinion is 3 stars "good but there's better"
I thought 4 stars for me is "good but there's better" (i'm changing to 3 stars)
Edit: another thing- no prices on any drinks margaritas to cerveza. This annoys me, do I really have to ask? Or wait till the check?
Edit: months later, after trying most other Mexican food joints in town it has become clear to me I have no reason to return here. 4 stars down to 3 stars. There is so much better stuff out there, I hope that they can turn this place around. Focus on fresh ingredients, flavorful...
