The Spa at Silver Legacy — Local services in Reno

This is not about the spa, per se, but rather the poolside cabanas, which are rented through and under the jurisdiction of the spa.

No one EVER answers the phone. We tried 2-3 times per day the week preceding our trip in an attempt to reserve a cabana. We finally tried the hotel directly. The directed us to the website that also instructs the customer to call the spa. There actually is a way to sort of keep clicking, sign up for an account and put a cabana in your cart…except that function doesn’t work. Back to calling the hotel directly and staying on hold while they try to help..

In retrospect, the universe was likely attempting to save me from colossal disappointment. I should have listened.

We did finally get our cabana. It’ll run ya $350 for the day. They are sparse, dirty, unkempt. There is no poolside or cabana service. There is a little snack shack near the pool. The menu on the wall is out of date. I attempted to order a plastic cup of wine, but the poor soul at the snack shack didn’t have a “cork remover.”

You can order poolside service through “Caesar Eats” but there is a $10 delivery fee for each delivery. Ordering periodically through out the course of the day could easily set you back $50+.

We booked massages for the day we were coming into town. As I made the reservation I needed to put a credit card number in for a cancellation fee if I were to cancel within 24 hours. I understand that. Not a problem. However, in the middle of our trip there we came to a dead stop on the highway and suddenly our trip time doubled. We called the spa to let them know that there was no chance of us arriving on time and then they let us know the cancellation fee was 50%! We had booked two massages so our cancellation fee was $160! That to me is unacceptable. We did not cancel on a whim, we had to because of circumstances beyond our control. I would have paid $50 or something more reasonable without complaint but to me, this should have been fully disclosed, and they should have an acts of GOD clause.
