The office workers are pretty nice, but when I came in to my apartment I got a terrible first impression. Nothing was actually clean. Two people in the eight person apartment had left early, yet neither of their jobs gotten done by cleaning crews over the break.
In my last apartment complex, I had an eight person apartment with the kitchen space for six people. I thought that was bad until I saw the storage space we're allowed here. It's fit for five people's stuff in the kitchen. And we have eight. The pantry is a joke that has four shelves and there really should be a light in there.
Speaking of lights, we had six lights burned out when we moved into the apartment. There's a really tall ceiling in the living room, which is nice, but both of the lights at the top have been burned out since I got here. Our apartment has put in two maintenance requests for the tall lights to be fixed and even gone and talked to the office about it, but we've been told that they only fix those during summer time. Then we were told by another office worker, later, that what the other person said was trash and they can be fixed any time. It doesn't change the fact that we're almost five weeks into the semester and our living room is still dark.
The parking garage is way too narrow and it gives me anxiety to have to drive in it. I have a mini van that's pretty big, but we couldn't get the big parking because there were too many big cars already so we're in normal parking. I share it with two of my siblings and one of them has already scraped the car against a column in the parking garage. Also, there's no indoor bike parking. All the legit bike parking is in the parking garage. And with how bad it is driving in a car, imagine how nerve wracking it is on a bike, when cars don't really see you and they're not looking for you anyway. But it's packed on the first floor bike racks. I have to park my bike off to the side of one of the racks because there's just no room.
There's also not a lot of storage in the bedroom. You have a shallow closet thing, and then a legitimate crawl space behind the bed. There are two drawers and a few shelves under your bed, but no shelves on the wall. It's a super weird setup.
On the upsides, the beds are really comfortable. Much better than the default beds. The living room is pretty open, too. The bathroom has a tub in it, which is nice, the windows are big, and the ceilings aren't too short. Plus there's AC and heating. And having two floors to an apartment is an...
Read moreI lived here Winter 2015. Hated it. Two reasons:
Build quality: For the price, you aren't getting a quality apartment. You'll notice the negative complaints on here talk a lot about how the place was poorly built, and they're right; They rushed to complete it to accommodate the influx of students and seemed to have missed a lot of important details: a. The TV's are very small for the 2 story apartments. b. There is an empty vent that goes from each room to the living room. Making it so that you can hear literally everything going on in the living room. c. I think the piping wasn't installed correctly or something because we would have constant problems with the dishwasher and sometimes the kitchen sink. This is probably different with every apartment. d. Wood floors/cabinets are dark, so if you spill a drop of anything you can see it from far away. e. The couches are awful. It literally feels like they were constructed with 2x4s, cheap felt, and foam. Awful to sit or lay in. People: This place is a cesspool of summer sales bros and spoiled students: Kids speeding through the parking structure in their parents' BMW, loud music that blasts through the hall (often late at night), etc. are common occurrences.
Despite hating it, here are some things I really liked: Gym: The indoor gym here is great; Larger than most complex's. High quality weights and machines. Bathrooms: I loved having my own bathroom that I only had to share with one other guy. No problems with water heating or pressure when I was there. Beds: The beds are memory foam, and I liked sleeping on them. They can get a little hot, though, especially if you have a waterproof mattress cover. Management: The managers were really nice people and did their best to address the needs of the tenants. I know the same can't be said today, but it's important to understand how little the actual managers control. The owners and upper managements are the people controlling the budgets of these complexes. Lounge and Clubhouse: Seems like most of the money and time spent here was in these locations. Very large a ton of amenities!
Bottom Line: Overall a nice place to live, but in my opinion not worth the price. If you are looking for a complex that matches Mountain Lofts' size, social circle, and/or prestige, you might want to consider North Point or...
Read moreI don't live at Mountain Lofts; however, let me tell you about my sister who does live at Mountain Lofts right now. My sister paid for a single room and planned on not moving for her two semesters which are back to back. Well, today she called my mother crying because she was basically homeless thanks to the carelessness of management not listening to her. Last week she was informed she would have to move to a new apartment that was already occupied with 4 girls so she would basically be moving in with someone even though she paid for a single. Okay fine even though she contacted the office/management about getting a single room they said that was not possible and the only discount the offered was a $50 dollar discount. (pitiful effort itself) So yesterday she moved her items to the new apartment and since she could never find all the roommates to discuss who she was moving in with she just choose a room and moved her things in. When my sister came back from her classes today her things were all out in the living room on a table with a less than amiable note from the girl saying she was there first and that she wanted a single room. That horrible young lady basically made a villain of my sister and treated her no respect when it was not her fault and she was NOT the villain of this story. MOUNTAIN LOFTS IS THE VILLAIN of this story because they were forcing my sister to move and the girls to accept a new roommate. My mother called the office upset today and though the issue is resolved and my sister is now in a new room I CANNOT BELIEVE IT HAD TO COME TO THIS!!!!!!!!!! I am not sure where this single room magically appeared but I am glad it did. I was going to leave a little bit nicer review because the issue seems resolved as of this moment but reading the reviews about other people who have also had to move multiple times this is not a student problem it is clearly a poor MANAGEMENT problem. When this is a problem with the head of these apartments it seems to me like a new management staff should be hired. It should not take an irate parent calling to make management get off its butt and get things done. Also if I could post ZERO STARs I would but I can't, but trust me when I tell you that posting an angry review will not be the only thing I...
