Easy-to-find parking in a small town. Everything feels kind of cramped in this area (inside and outside), which is totally fine. [Summed up short version of this review at the end.]
After walking in, I was greeted. I came to the register where there were employees that didn't look readily approachable, so it felt a little awkward as if I approached the wrong employees for service. Not a big deal here because after a double-take, I gained the confidence of expecting the service I came in for.
I asked where I could find plates and napkins, and they said around the corner. I didn't realize it was buried behind the soda dispenser, so I had to ask again. One of them escorted me and proceeded to serve me the paper plates. It was nice, but they were set out for me to serve myself, albeit the self serving station was in an awkward place for guests. The station shouldn't be hidden, making it a poor business decision in my eyes. Besides the station being easily accessible, the issue could have been solved if they could serve me the items from behind the counter.
When being given the pizzas, the boxes were opened to prove that they were the pizzas and if I was satisfied with them. I understand how this can be good service in a low trust society, but it should be on them to know my pizza is satisfactory and up to standards. I think it's a way of pushing responsibility onto the guests so they aren't responsible with unsatisfactory situations.
The neapolitan pizzas I had were actually poor. Sure the toppings may have been great quality, but the toppings were super skimpy, especially compared to the photos they have on their website. I was actually wanting to buy some new york pizzas. The toppings I wanted seemed to only be available on the neapolitian pizzas, so my choices felt very limited, and there is no build your own new york style pizza. The neapolitan pizza dough was tough to chew. It had that wood-fried flavor that people like. The dough felt very flimsy, like it's wet. It's a small size pizza, too.
To sum up the negatives: small pizzas with wet crust that's tough to chew; super skimpy on the toppings; pizza options are super limited; some minor poor business decisions for the sake of convenience and accountability.
To sum up the positives: friendly and helpful staff (at least when there's not a line); quality toppings; self serving station.
The pizzas I got were worth $5 to me, but I paid about $15 each (about $50 after tax), so it felt like a scam. I might try a new york style here sometime, but I may also never come back. I'd rather have the worst service ever if it meant I could also have good pizza dough and...
Read moreI LOVE LOVE LOVE Righteous Slice!! Their pizza never disappoints, and only gets better year after year. I'm a hardcore pizza enthusiast, and Righteous Slice ALWAYS takes the cake for me. I love both their Neopolitan and New York style pizzas, and their shakes are AMAZING too! I especially love how they pay attention to the quality and sourcing of their ingredients. Their employees are always super nice and ready to help you however you need, and I'm always uplifted by the experience whenever I come in. I even took my dad with me like a year or two ago, and he still talks about it from time to time!
I also like how they offer their NY Style cheese or pepperoni by the slice, as it's the perfect option for a college student like me when I'm craving either quality pizza or their NY Style, but I can't quite afford a whole pizza just for me at that time. I've never had pizza of a quality quite like theirs, and it definitely stands above the rest.
Other Notes: •It's a pretty popular place, especially on the weekends, so sometimes the wait time can be like 15-30min, but the wait for their pizza is WORTH IT. •It's fun to watch the pizza making process while you wait! Especially if you're able to snag the table with an aerial/above view of the kitchen. •It can get fairly LOUD/hard to hear during BUSY times when you're dining in, just because of how the layout of the building is. Just something to be aware of if that's an issue for you. •They do run out of their Pizza by the Slice every once in awhile, especially during busy nights. But when that happens I just get a Neopolitan pizza for myself, as it feeds 1-2 people. •Some of their pizzas are in more of a traditional/classic Italian style, so something to be aware of when you order (ex: Cheesy Bread may have a strong, unique garlic flavor that might be unexpected for some people. Or if you've never had a Neoplolitan style pizza before, just be aware that it's slightly different than most pizzas you find in America). If you're not sure when you're ordering, don't hesitate to ask! The staff are more than happy to help you out and answer any questions you may have. And if you're still not sure, then there's nothing wrong with going with a classic like Cheese, Pepperoni, or Supreme in their...
Read moreI like Righteous Slice a lot. I always have since I got to Rexburg 2 years ago. Never had a bad experience. Strangely enough, I started going here to get food when I was feeling sick. Who wants to eat poor quality food when they’re feeling bad? Not me. I saw the ratings were high, craving pizza, but couldn’t stand the idea of Little Caesar’s or Domino’s (despite the fact I think they have their time and place) and decided to give this mom and pop shop a shot. My experience: I was met with everything I didn’t know I wanted from purchase one. Pretty much all the ingredients and toppings are sourced from high end and even local spots, like Caputo flour from as far away as Italy and fruit from as close as Idaho’s local grocer Broulim’s. The well-aged Neapolitan pizza crust does well as a personal-sized carb, with its flour and aging process combination making it easy to digest, and the New York crust being a fantastically robust, fried, crisp bite. The salads and desserts don’t take a seat on the side either, with fresh greens every time and unique presentation of fruity and chocolate-y pizzas. Shakes slap too.
I don’t know if I can comment on the service since I’m biased in their favor, but I remember having a pleasant, upbeat experience my first time. Noah was really good to me at 3 in the afternoon when I stopped by. The dine in and take out experience is such an interesting hybrid of table service and casual dining unlike anything I’ve ever seen at a fast food, fast casual, or full-table serviced restaurant: Perfect for a college town serving the best pizza in Idaho. Atmosphere and vibe are fun too.
The only thing that might deter people from stopping by is a high wait time during weekends and relatively higher prices compared to other spots, but if there’s one thing I’ve learned, nothing superb will come at the expense of cutting corners temporally or monetarily. TL;DR: It’s worth the wait and the price if you want to appreciate good pizza.
All in all, I once again might be a little biased, but when I hear about good food, I’m willing to pay for it, and for every dollar I’ve spent there, I haven’t been disappointed. In fact, I’ve...
