Sugarbeast has a lot going for it, the glamorous environment, energetic lighting and a color palette seemingly taken out of a Fuji polaroid film. The interior design is on point.
Unfortunately that 'glamor' is too short-lived, much like the Vegas Scene from Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief, and well not in a good way at all.
First and foremost, the ice cream was absolutely atrocious. I hate to say it, but this was no better than a value bin from Walmart, albeit you would've gotten way more ice cream for what was paid here. There was simply no flavor (besides the vanilla) and the included toppings from the flavors selected were nearly absent. Now, perhaps it was simply a matter of the ice cream not being mixed or served well, but that was a major disappointment as again there wasn't anything special about the ice cream itself. It was literally just vanilla ice cream, expensive for what it was, and portion sizes were ambiguous at best. Unfortunately despite many recommendations there just wasn't anything here which again was a complete 'dud'. For a novel 'hangout' joint this just simply fell completely flat on its face.
Additionally, just to reiterate it would serve your customer base if you would include the sizing charts or references for the different sizes of ice cream. It was a blindside and though I tend to give the benefit of the doubt in most instances, it seemed intentional so making a note of that here. It would be helpful to have a menu or a look over at what your options are before getting to the front of line, the included handout menus are a cool concept but they didn't seem very purposeful in informing your customer base about what their options were.
On a positive note though, the employees were for the most part super polite, and professional, as well as the guest space being super clean and maintained.
On an added note, the pricing was absolutely outrageous, for all of the menu items not just the ice cream... The purpose of reviewing is to just be honest and direct, with that being said, there was just a missed mark here.
Perhaps this was just a dud of an experience but overall I can't recommend this novel 'hangout' joint.
Edit Note: Adjusted feedback based on the courteous owner response and timely manner of contact. Again newly established business with tons of potential, that came as a recommendation from tons of community members, just had an off experience. May revisit...
Read moreI had such a great experience here today with my young daughters. I have driven past The Sugarbeast before, but have been hesitant to go in because I wasn't sure how child friendly of an environment it would be. But when I came in with my daughters today, I was so happy to find that it was such a family friendly place. The owner was so kind, he gave quarters to my children and my friend's little ones so they could select prizes from the quarter machines. He asked how we were, and when we explained we were coming straight from their kindergarten graduation, he congratulated our kids and warmly welcomed them. After our crew had devoured their ice cream, he turned on music and lights for the kids so they could go up on the stage and sing and dance. It was such a wonderful experience and I wish we would have tried them sooner. The owner and worker behind the counter were so kind, the ice cream was divine, and the environment was just so fun. We will definitely be going back as a family again soon. Thank you for helping make our...
Read moreWe visited Sugarbeast recently, and the experience was a bit of a mixed bag. First off, the workers were so nice—super friendly and welcoming, which we really appreciated. The environment was also adorable and very well maintained, making it a pleasant place to be.
Choosing what to eat was so hard because everything looked amazing! In the end, we went with a brownie, a chocolate chip cookie, and the "BeastMeal," which was a ham and swiss sandwich on a croissant with fries.
The brownie was really good, but the cookie wasn’t warmed all the way through, which was a bit disappointing. The ham and Swiss sandwich was okay, but it felt like there wasn’t enough ham or cheese—most bites were just croissant. As for the potato fries, the smaller ones were warm and tasty, but the bigger ones were cold and a little soggy in the middle.
The place itself was so cute, but the food let us down a bit. We might come back to try their hot chocolate or maybe some other desserts, but we’re...
