nail art clean salon and tools vibe Scheduling, booking, communication pedicure price for service Price (Long review but I want to be specific for feedback)
Today was my first time going to Polish Room & I really wanted to love my experience. Azalea did an amazing job on my nails. I got a pedicure that was just okay, I don’t think it was worth the price compared to my nails. The big issue I had was the confusion with booking/timing allotted for services. This is a huge turn off for me, I like to have things in order and clear understanding of services, expectations and intended spend.
I initially booked for 7/9 online after speaking with someone on IG via private message. A week later, someone called to move my appointments to a different day since I signed up for their appt waitlist.
This was my first time here so the day before my appt, I called to see where to send pictures of the design. There’s no system to share pics when booking or confirming. The person on the phone told me to text the pictures & I was told a price for the design. When I asked a follow up question about how the price was determined (per nail, chrome, gems etc.), no one responded. I’m pretty flexible so I was okay with just figuring out the day on.
Today, I get a call right as the salon opens regarding my appointment. The original one wasn’t deleted so it showed me for this week and next. It got resolved over the phone, no problem. 30-40min later as I’m en-route to the salon, I get a text saying I can’t get any design due to time. An option was to re-schedule for the original date if I wanted both services, or just do the mani with design today.
At this point, I had already spoken with the salon on 3 different occasions and was very confused as to how booking for gel-X + advanced design didn’t allot for enough time? I said I’d be fine with no design, but I want to keep my mani/pedi as scheduled. Whoever I was texting said they’d take $10 off due to the mishap. Perfect.
I get into the salon, everything is cute. I’m offered a drink and am seen almost immediately with apologies for the confusion. My nails were handled with care and I was able to get a good design by Azalea.
Unfortunately, there was installation of a sign on the building. Needless to say, it was not relaxing at all. I attached a video of the sound that went on for almost the entirely of my gel-X application. I wish I knew construction was happening because I would have just rescheduled all together when I spoke to the rep this morning.
My pedicure was very light, polish was fine but there wasn’t any cuticle work or real treatment of nails beyond filing. No trimmers were used to get any nail edges/corners. I decided I just wanted to go due to the construction so didn’t complain. I don’t like confrontation so figured I’d just pay and go about my day.
When checking out, I asked if there was a pamphlet or board with a pricing breakdown and what services included. There isn’t, it’s online. When prompted to tip, it’s split between providers. No intended offense to the rep who did my pedicure, but my nail tech did substantially more work/expertise in the service. And because there wasn’t a pricing sheet, I didn’t know how the total payment was broken down until I got my digital receipt.
Maybe have providers cash-apps framed for tips and a board with all the prices transparently displayed?
Idk if I’ll return. The vibe wasn’t enough to compensate for the operational challenges. I really like my nails, but when I plan for time to treat myself for once in my schedule, I don’t want to do all the back-and-forth to still...
Read moreI got my nails done here on Monday for an event that I had on Friday. I paid $130 for my set which lasted 3 days. On Thursday (that same week) one nail was chipped. By Friday before my event the chipped nail completely came off while washing my hands. I called the salon on Monday to talk to someone and see what could be done about my nails. No one picked up the phone so I left a message. I thought that someone would get back to me soon and no one did. The following day I called again and spoke with a nail tech. The nail tech, Emily said that the store owner would call me on that Wednesday. Once again I received no call so I called the salon and the same girl answered. Emily assured me that the owner, Sarah would call me soon. when the owner finally called I told her what happened and requested a refund. The owner said that they guarantee their work and that she will not be refunding me but that I could come in and get them redone since they guarantee their work. I explained that I have a job where you are not allowed to have nail extensions and that I reached out to my district manager and got approval for the week. I asked the owner, Sarah to make an exception and refund my money since the situation was exceptional. I let her know that nobody would expect to pay $130 to get their nails done and have one of them fall off the same week( 3 days later). I was rudely interrupted while I was talking and then yelled at. I calmly told the owner that I courteously allowed her to finish talking without interrupting her. She rudely cut me off and continued to talk over me then yelled at me NO REFUND, WE’RE DONE HERE and hung up the phone on me. This was EXTREMELY rude and unacceptable for a business owner to treat a paying customer this way following a bad experience. One week after getting my nails done 5 nails had fallen off! I lost 2 while washing hands and face, 1 at work, 1 during a right turn while driving, and 1 while writing. I’ve attached pictures of 2 out of the 5 nails that came off. For a salon that guarantees their work, their work doesn’t last very...
Read moreHey friends stay far far far away from PAINT Nail Bar St. Louis. They are "rebranding" and apparently the new rebrand is rude as hell. Sarah and I hope to God she's not the owner has a huge attitude. I called to reschedule. I said I chose a package, "a package" said exasperatedly, yes it's on your website. She lost my reservation. When I tried to talk she spoke over me. Not a lot of listening skills. I said, I'm going to cancel this is giving me anxiety. Which she and the whole experience was. I wasn't rude. She said, "oooo wow" and then hung up on me!!!!
I called back and told her she's rude for hanging up on me. She wanted to argue with me. WOW. If you're like me it's hard to take care of yourself sometimes/treat yourself. If you're giving me anxiety already on the phone what makes you think I want to come to your place of business and give you my hard earned money. Speak to them at your own risk. Apparently you aren't allowed to have anxiety about strangers touching your feet. Rebranding, I can see why it's needed.
Feb 2025 update: FB wants to suggest this place so bad. I comment they’re rude, cuz they are. In the other comment someone called other nail artist “chinamen” and they said nothing. So let’s add racist to this list as well. I will continue to tell every single person I know to stay far away...
