Not happy with the new owners. The filing system there is disturbing. One author in 3 different areas of the store. I understand that some write different genres, but they are scattered around the store. Makes it confusing to find what you're looking for. For those of you who got credit slips from the old owners, FYI, the new owner said that you have to take it up with the old owner for payout. When I traded in books, I was told by both that it would be honored. That they were still working it out. So, if you have old slips, they are useless. It took the person helping me 1/ 2 an hour to get all my info into the computer, then got told my slip was worthless. So I will never go there again as it's got too boutique than book store. Find it disappointing that another cozy place bit the dust. Update. You're right. I didn't speak to you during this trip. You left for your storage.I was there when you were with Nadia. When it was in escrow. Before nadia farewell party. That is when you said we figure it out. I wasn't going to be rude with your employee. It wasn't his fault, and I wasn't going to be rude to someone who was trying to help me out. He did call you also. It took him more than 3 minutes to put the info in. He had to do it twice, and he apologized for being so slow and having trouble with the computer. husband was even nice since he was having difficulty with the technology. I'm glad you bringing that up was I wasn't slanted but brutally honest about my visit. I didn't say the nice things about my visit as it changed to a boutique rather than a second-hand bookstore. What I pointed out was the fact that it lost its homey feel for something bousey. Nadia and most bookstores I have been keep all the authors in certain genres rather than spread about. That's an observation, and it made it hard for me to find authors that I look for. As for him helping me, he didn't know the author I was looking for. He checked the spots I had already looked in. I'm not a rude person and wouldn't take out any frustration I had on your poor employee because I'm courteous like that. So, if I were, I'd take another look...
Read moreA few weeks back my family was in the area and I asked if anyone would mind if we stopped in. The new owner was a lovely woman who was more than willing to listen and actually converse with a 9 and 11 year old not just patronize them with glib answers to their million questions. She was able to guide them to the books of interest and make suggestions based on the children’s selections. Both found books to their liking. I myself found two great pulp novels in good shape and very fairly priced. I had shopped here previously and wanted to check for any pulp novels and didn’t know it was under new ownership when I walked in. The place felt just as cozy as before and doesn’t pretend to be Barns and Noble or anything else the negative reviews say. I know some people have slammed them for having new books but every Indy bookstore I’ve ever been in has had a mix of book old and new. Cause guess what? This store supports local authors! Can you imagine being a local writer and the book store not stocking your book cause it’s new? I might not be able to get down there as much as I like but it’s always on my to go list when I’m...
Read morei used to frequent this bookstore so much! from 2010-2020? i stopped coming because of covid but before i absolutely adored this place. the creaky green floor. the old bookshelves with the comics everywhere, this old book smell. it was a gorgeous hidden treasure piece. imagine my surprise when i came last year during holiday season and saw a wannabe barnes and noble ;( i’m really sad that this place was modernized, it took away all the uniqueness and charm that was inside. i always enjoyed talking to the older people manning the cashier and the hometown charm this place had. i’m really disappointed in the bright and harsh lighting, the modern text they decided to use everywhere. overall this place is a shell of what it used to be and while there still will be customers, those who grew alongside this place are heartbroken and won’t...
