I should have read the reviews more carefully. This place needs a lesson in customer service and going above and beyond to make the customer happy. Something I learned early on from my mom who owned her own businesses for years and what I incorporate into my current role. I showed up at 5:30 pm with 4 pairs of shoes. The young girl quickly told me that they stop taking items at 5:00 pm. I told her I left work early and drove quite a distance. She could have cared less and actually acted like it gave her a lot of satisfaction to tell me no exceptions to the policy! Then what I presumed to be the manager or owner (which is even more scary to me) walked up and continued the same behavior that the first girl exhibited and went on and on that it was a whole big process to look at the items, yes 4 pairs of shoes we are talking about, seriously? Three were brand new in the box, even with tags! I said can you give me an idea at least if you would take them and how much I would get? This was after she told me I could leave them and then have to drive way back to pick them up the next day. I wish she really knew what was going on in my life and why that could not happen. She went on and on how much of a process it was to give me prices and how she had to Input everything into the system, yes 3 items because at this point because one she rudely told me no one wears anymore.šThe way she talked it would taken hours to evaluate 4 items. Someone needs to learn to type faster or multi-task! What happens when people bring in a whole bunch of items? They must have to call in the extra staff and reinforcements for that process. My husband who says nothing typically said to me as we walked outā¦wow, horrible customer service. They had an attitude from the beginning and were rude. The biggest thing I want to express is that I was overwhelmed by the lack of empathy, caring, customer service, etc. They honestly could not wait to be able to turn me away. Instead of breaking the so called policy and making an exception to help out a customer I had to pull teeth just to get general information from them. And believe me they seemed very annoyed to have to even bother. They not only turned away 4 pairs of shoes, they turned away a potential buying customer and all my Facebook friends, work friends, and every other person I will tell not to patronize their business. I have quite a following when it comes to pointing people in the right shopping direction. Maybe they have enough customers and just donāt need anymore. But this customer will tell tenfold the horrible experience I had. And if it was the owner I dealt with I fault you for the unprofessional behavior of your young employee. You set a horrible example for her. Think about that one.š¤. Donāt bother with your canned response because my review...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis is an awful place to buy or sell clothing- staff is unfriendly and unwelcoming, everything is overpriced, and they pretend to be picky about what they buy when the entire store is actually stocked with garbage. Itās a total rip off whether youāre buying OR selling.
I took a large bag full of name brand / designer clothing- many items NEW with tags & purchased in the last year- and they passed on everything but a pair of no-name shoes (which they offered me less than $3 for). Iāve seen what they stock in their store, so I was VERY surprised they passed on my items (which were on-trend, weather appropriate and either new or gently worn) because the store is seriously lacking nice, stylish clothes.
I realized after the fact that they text you to let you know when they are done looking through your items. Well, I received that text about 5 minutes after dropping off my LARGE bag of clothing, which leads me to believe they didnāt even look at what I brought in. The owner/ manager lady tried to say they are picky and have a specific list of what they NEED and that theyāre overstocked. So why the hell donāt you update the website and say ācurrently not buying clothesā? Why even let me drop off my bag with hopes of making some cash when you have no intention of even looking at it? I guess theyād rather waste peopleās time by making them come in and interact with the rude, incompetent staff.
All in all, this place is shady and seriously a waste of time in every capacity. As a longtime Rochester resident I hope this location goes out of business, and I expect they will considering how unprofessional they are, as reflected in all these 1 star reviews (that I wish I had seen before even stepping foot in that store).
If you want to save money by shopping resale I suggest the Salvation Army, Platoās Closet or Regeneration for better prices and better options. Oh yeah, and FRIENDLY staff that actually make you feel welcome and comfortable...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreTerrible customer service! Donāt waste your time here, plenty of other local consignment shops. I had called yesterday seeing how Iāve never used this shop. I was walked through the process at clothes mentor. The person I spoke with was nice and informative but did not tell me about any āspecificā times.
Context: Iām a single dad and my sonās birthday is in a week, spent a little too much on his special day and thought Iād offload some older nice items I have. With the little free time I have.
So around 4pm today I head out to clothes mentor in Rochester. Which is almost an hour drive from my house. Knowing they close at 7.
I walk in with my 3 items and say hi. Iām responded not with a āhiā or a āwelcomeā but we stopped buying at 4pm. My jaw dropped and I was kinda shocked seeing how I just drove so far. Frustrated I accept it and leave.
I start walking back towards my car and it dawns on me, this 4pm stop buying time was never mentioned on my phone call from yesterday. I turn around with a persistent mindset and hopefully I can talk to a āreasonable⦠understandingā manager who could help a brother out.
Well the manager happened to be the first person I talked to, that was so quick to tell me they are not buying.
Context: there are currently about 4-5 employees working and no customers. This āmanagerā is just leaning on the register, day dreaming.
I kindly express my phone call yesterday and gently plead that Iāve driven all this way and if someone could please just look at my 3 items. It was a solid NO, with zero empathy or understanding. She also let me know theyāve been buying ALL DAY LONG. Implying she was exhausted and didnāt want to do anymore.
Customer service is a standard that is so far lost these days⦠and this place has none of it. Especially the manager working on...
