I am very brand loyal especially with me moving so much, and I have always been a customer of Home Depot, but today that changes! I have never been so miss treated in a Home Depot in my life! Last week Home Depot had the electrolux pedestals luxury guide on sale for 138.00! I find this out in the Rome, GA Home Depot, and I had to go home and get my credit card to purchase the pedestals because I was told that the washer and dryer would be going on sale within the next month before or around Thanksgiving! I came back to the store and the store was closed! I called the online department and they advised me that the item was not available at 10:43pm. Well at 653am I receive an email from Home Depot telling me that the pedestals were in my cart ready to be purchased not for the 138.00, but for the 249.00! I called the online department back and spoke with another rep who listened to me and called the store in my behalf to get the matter taken care of and she spoke with Lori at the Rome GA Home Depot! I was told that everything would be taken care of and to go back to the store! I get to the store and asked for Lori who shares with me that I need to show her the add that I printed the night before, and I did! After looking at the add she shared with me that it was a Washington DC add and there was nothing she could do! I explained to her the document was printed on a VPN that is based in DC, but the gentleman who told me about the pedestals show me this sale in Rome Ga! I also explained to her that I received the email from you all saying that the item could be purchased! Lori went and got a manager, Blake, who then pulls the item up on his iPhone to show me that it was out of stock! I shared with him that what I kept getting but if you go through and place the order it would place it! He explained to me in front of Lori that it would and there was nothing that he could do! I left the store and called the Internet department back and spoke to Ty and she shared with me that she could place the order but it was showing 249.00, and she would call the store to get this handled and taken care of for me! She spoke with Matthew this time, and she was able to get this taken care of! She advised me that Matthew would be taken care of me and handling this in voice mail! Matt calls me back and he left a message telling me that he will be leaving at 3 and to call him back! By the time called the store, he had already left for the day! I kept calling throughout the weekend and I finally was told that Matthew was on vacation and they would leave the message with Lori to take care of this! I called Monday and this morning to have Lori share with me that she will be passing this off to a department manager who then has Blake the previous manager from Wednesday to tell me that he shared my situation with the store manager and they will give me the pedestals for 200.00 a piece! Really!!!!! I know MOST Home Depot stores to take pride in customer service and wear their years of service badges with PRIDE! I know the leaders of this company normally treat their customers with respect knowing that they are the reason their stores are open! Which is a part of your mission and vision! I am writing this because I feel that this has been a horrible customer experience and nothing is going to be done at all but I want to be heard because no one is listening to me at the Rome GA Home Depot!...
Read moreWell it's a fairly good guess that most Home Depot stores are going to have high ratings, the majority from builders and DIYrs that have easy access to products within a fairly competitive pricing range because of the company's buying power. I wanted to make a review of the Home Depot stores in general because they are quite predictable in their products, pricing and personnel.
I'm not certain where the loyalty of Home Depot is aimed these days but whether it's toward the customers is of some potential question. I have observed lumber being offered by Home Depot defined as "unmarked," indicating that the lumber has not been stamped or graded via U.S. Lumber standards. Examine their dimensional lumber products thoroughly before purchasing because they typically possess evidence of poor milling, with edges that undulate down the length of the board to as much as 1/4" in some instances.
A good deal of this lumber is also warped from the edge downward through the boards, making it impossible to gain a straight edge. It becomes necessary to hand-pick acceptable wood and depending upon when you're shopping it, the choices are relegated to culls already rejected in instances that leave you with either a bad decision or no decision at all.
The cost for this unmarked lumber is also a frustrating issue, often ranging either just under the price of proper graded and stamped dimensional wood to sometimes the exact same price as if it is merely a consumer choice between two competing standards.
Use great caution in buying unmarked dimensional lumber from Home Depot. It does not represent a value purchase but rather a headache when you try and use it for your...
Read moreI should start by saying that this is not a review of the staff. Everyone we encountered during our washer and dryer ordeal was as friendly and helpful as possible. Lori is great.
We purchased a Samsung washer and dryer Monday September 12, they said delivery would take four days, which seemed excessive to me. The dryer arrived without a cable and the washer was dented. They took the washer back, we had to call repeatedly before we got a second date which was another four days. The second washer arrived and it was dented worse. We are talking about an $800.00 piece of equipment here. We sent it back again. We had to call repeatedly once again only to find out that it would be the 14th of October before the third washer would be delivered. This was unacceptable. I should note that the staff gave us a $100.00 credit after the first washer went back and honestly if they would have knocked a few hundred off the first dented washer we would have kept it. Home Depot offered to give us a loaner washer but they had to wait until someone with a pickup came to work because they don't have a delivery truck. While waiting for the loaner we started seeing reports of Samsung washers coming apart like a cheap suit so we decided to cancel the order. We went to Allan Murphy's, purchased a GE set and it was delivered the next day with no dents. We should have followed advice of locals and gone to Allan Murphy's from the beginning.
Again, the staff at Home Depot were great and the issue was caused by their delivery service and warehouse but we purchased the set from Home Depot which is why...
