I went in the store in Rome bc we were at the mall. I live an hour away and I always have to drive an hour to a Kay location. We live in the middle of 4 of them. I walked in and was not greeted in any way. I stood at the register for at least 10 min. There were three clients in there at the time. Two associates and three clients, including myself. It was fine that they were with other people, but I was never acknowledged. I wanted to know if they had time to service my ring bc they had been closed as a company bc of Covid. It needed cleaning and has to be inspected due to it’s warranty. The guy who finally waited on me gave me a big song and dance about how cleanings/inspections are appt only. They took a lot of heat for being in possession of peoples things while closed. I understood the issue but the cleaning/inspection process takes 15min good and there was NO ONE in there! There was hardly anyone at the mall at all! I confused looked around and asked if he couldn’t squeeze me in while I shopped and he explained it was call ahead only and that they do not keep the ring and you must wait on it. As in same day pickup. I was still puzzled on why he was too busy to do it. Today I called the store we usually visit in Dawsonville and they were deeply confused as to why I was trying to make an appt, The guy said it “only takes like 15min” so we will do it while you wait... ??? I was almost laughing out loud. Exactly what I thought! It’s never a big deal so why is there call ahead appts??? He said they don’t and aren’t doing that. He said come on in and let us take care of it! Kay is only doing a 6mo extension on your warranty time due to Covid so I suggest you people who patron the Rome location get an appt make and get in there quick before all of your warrantees are voided!! But after my experience Wednesday night 8/13/2025 with Selena, I was so uncomfortable and so aggravated with her customer service and the way that she talked over another employee and some of the conversations she had over a piece of my jewelry. I second guess going back. Then my sister went in today, 8/15/2025 and Selena helped her. My sister did not know the situation of Wednesday because we have not spoken yet, but she called me as she left upset Selena overcharged for a repair and when asked about the price came across as she didn’t care.also couldn’t explain why it was so much. I do have to give credit The situation was handled by management with the pricing immediately after a phone call but for me, it’s the principal that we had built trust and a relationship with JOE and Natalie and even Andre just for the one bad apple Selena to make us not want to do business at Kay’s. I decided in honer of her I would buy a piece of jewelry. I originally thought I would support a local Jeweler.
