Meijer has gone downhill since Fred died. The prices are not as good as they used to be. The sales are not as good as they used to be. They used to have 12 pages of grocery sale items, now you get 4. They force you to buy multiple items but never have anything in stock. The warehouse refuses to ship what the store needs. The alcohol selection is terrible, Kroger has a better selection overall. They stopped selling 2 popular wines, 2 popular salads. Their bleach selection is non-existent, and what they do have is overpriced. They give you coupons that you can't use because they don't have the item in stock. Meijer chunck peaches have been out for 3 months. I had a coupon, but couldn't use it. The grocery manager made sure it was zeroed out in computer. Fix a flat, app said in stock, and it is available for pickup in 2 hours. I went to the store and the shelves were bare. Month later, still out. Had a digital coupon for Jack Daniels, save $8 when you buy 2. Meijer didn't include the gift sets even though they are same price and coupon doesn't exclude them. Had to stand in a long service desk line to get it corrected. They used to be open 24 hrs, but now close at midnight. During the pandemic it was to clean and restock. But it isn't any cleaner and not anymore restocked then before. It is actually worse now. If your in line at midnight, you're screwed, the u scan registers automatically shut down at exactly 12. One night there were 20 ppl in line at the Schonheer store and they shut down. They keep discontinuing items, now they are getting rid of the Fram air filters for vehicles and most of the oil filters. They used to have a huge general merchandise ad that was inside the grocery ad, but stopped. They don't mail ads anymore. They used to be a great store but now, my blood pressure goes up every time I shop there. Today they had a one day coupon for Zip Lock bags, 50% off one holiday bag. They are on-sale 2/$7 when you buy 2. There we go again! Must buy multiple items! But it didn't include 2 gallon bags. Meijer brand was sold out. What are senior citizens supposed to do? One box could last them a yr. Plus they don't have an extra $3.50 to waste. But Meijer marketing doesn't care. Ground beef was on sale bogo 50% off. But meat that was expiring was only marked down 20%. Makes perfect sense. Their sales are down so much they sold off part of the parking lot. At Roseville they built a strip mall and a coffee shop. In Sterling Heights they built 2 restaurants, they were going to build an oil change place but the deal fell through. The plastic bags are so flimsy, one jar of pasta sauce was too much for the bag. It fell out when I went to take it in house and broke. Contacted Meijer and told them what happened, but they never replaced it. Kroger isn't any better. If you live near Warren, Value Fresh on Hoover and 10 mile is the best. It's just a grocery store, but if that's all you want then they have good sales. And always in stock. Meijer has sales that last a month, you have to buy multiple items to get it for sale price, but are sold out. Like frozen vegetables, the paper doesn't list what is on sale and I couldn't find it in the app either. I think their marketing department and the warehouse sit around smoking weed and think of ways to torment the shopper. That's what it feels like to shop at Meijer the last several years. It just seems to get worse everyday. If you just need groceries go to a Sparten Affiliate store, they are better stocked, have plenty of registers open, food is always fresh and in some cases much cheaper than Meijer.

2025-Updated to a 3 star, they seem to be cleaning more, I haven't noticed specifically dirty things like in the picture, things seem to be looking up. As i said, the staff are friendly and things are usually well stocked. Left the pictures for now because it was like that for way too long. 2024- 1 star- This place can be pretty disgusting. These pictures are from the freezer section, alge and mold built up on the bottom of the glass and the freezers dripping everywhere. Over half of the freezers were like this this visit. The last visit, i bought a simple frozen meal ive bought multiple times before, it seemed that the box had gotten thawed, it was waterlogged. My fault, i bought it anyways, it really messed up my stomach. Multiple other times I've noticed grime built up in other places such as the dairy racks being CAKED in white/yellow crispy milk, aswell as almost every time, the milk isn't organized oldest toward the top, so sometimes there's expired milk on the bottom. I've also noticed mold within the meat refrigerators multiple times. There's no reason the bottom of the freezers should be like this, or any of the things I mentioned. They need a more consistent routine cleaning schedule so this DOESNT happen. No excuse. The employees are always friendly and helpful, and the store layout is easy to navigate, but the cleanliness is absurd....

I'm not a Meijer expert, so I can't compare this store to others. I don't go very often and when I do, it's the Fraser store. I came in for yard waste bags. It was a perfect Spring Saturday and everyone was do yard clean up or at least thinking about it. So why did I have to hunt all over the store to find the bags? They were stashed away in the seasonal section. It was forecasted long in advance that the weather was going to be great. The bags should have been placed right at the door. They would have sold a lot. Seeing the bags would have reminded people about the yardwork they need to do. Then they question if they have enough bags or if they have any at all! The vision of the bags would have raised their fear, uncertainty and doubt (FUD). This would compel them to purchase, no...hoard the bags in an attempt to vanquish the anxiety that had now enveloped them. Other than that, the self checkouts were all working and I didn't notice anything else bad. Getting it at Meijer was faster than HD, which was swarming with people and both prices were about the same.

Placed an online order for 7/30/25 between 5-6pm. Arrived at 5:46pm with NO other cars there. Text with name and spot number and waited. Another came after me got their groceries and left. I asked the person from Meijer where is my order in which he stated yours is coming out next.

Waited more and then another car came got their groceries and left. I again asked the Meijer person where is my order and in which he said it is coming out now?

Waited 10 more minutes, then text and said I am headed to Kroger to get what I need. NO response at all.

I called after I got home and spoke to a "manager" and he stated he was going to look into this and get back with me. NOTHING

I receive a call on 7/31/25 letting me know they still have some of my order???? Some don't you mean all as I never received anything yet there is a charge pending on my CC. He then replied oh I do see here that you pulled out as they were coming out??? FLAT OUT LIE

Still have not heard from anyone at Meijer regarding this. This is the second time this has happened in the last 4 months so that is why I called and why I am leaving this review. They do not even contact the customer which is crazy since their is an option of Kroger right across the street. Customer service...
