Santillan Jewelers — Local services in Roseville

This is the best jewelry store I've ever been to. My now husband and I started our engagement ring journey at Santillan, where we met Marty. He was informational but never came off as a know-it-all, helped me narrow down what I wanted in a ring, and encouraged us to look at other shops because he genuinely wanted me to have an engagement ring that I loved, even if it meant it wasn't from him.

We went to at least five other Sacramento-area stores in the next month, mostly other small businesses, and nothing compared to the rings that I found at Santillan. We went back and had a custom ring designed based off of the ring I loved most, as that thin ring was more decorative and didn't look like it would hold up to 50+ years of daily wear. Marty was helpful with all his suggestions and made sure the ring was thick enough to withstand daily wear while making it even more beautiful than the original.

The ring was inexpensive compared to other stores, but it was higher quality and far more unique than any other we had seen. We had numerous consultations to make sure the ring was exactly right before getting a wax mold (see photo) I could try on to make sure it looked good. It did. :)

My husband then got his wedding band custom designed at Santillan after finding a ring he liked online, and Marty ordered the gems in advance and had us pick out the ones we liked best to go into the ring. He offered helpful advice in creating the ring to make sure that it would last a lifetime and could be resized easily (if needed in the future) due to the design.

You simply cannot get this level of service anywhere else. I've sent all my soon-to-be-engaged friends to Santillan. We plan on coming back for more custom pieces if/when the occasion rises. Santillan Jewelers is...

My wife and I took two rings to Marty to have them resized. Marty told us there was a risk of cracking the stones but he would do the work. When we picked them up he handed us the rings in a bag. We took them home and left on a two week business trip. Upon returning home we inspected the rings and found one of them had a cracked stone and the other was loose in the setting. We looked at the receipt from him and saw in fine print that he had noticed the crack, however he did not disclose that information when we picked up the rings. When we returned to the store he blamed it on us saying the stone was cracked beforehand and that he told us that when we dropped them off. He then said that he had inspected the rings under a microscope and they had no cracks when we picked them up. Two different stories both blaming us. He gave us some story about how temperature changes cause stones to crack. And that we must have cracked the ring and were trying to “scam” him. However he took the rings and offered to replace the cracked stone and reset the other. When we picked them up he claimed he could not find a replacement stone for the cracked one and upon inspection the reset stone was crooked and had glue on the surface. He then became argumentative and wouldn’t listen to reason.

With being somewhat new to the area, I didn't know where to go to have a set of diamond earrings made from my mother's wedding rings. I went online to search for a jeweler and found Santillan Jewelers with great reviews and liked the fact it was a family owned business. On our first visit, my husband and I immediately liked Marty who was very helpful and comfortable to talk with and we knew we found the right jeweler. The earrings turned out beautiful and I was very pleased.

I then worked with him to design a grandmother pendant with my grandchildren's birthstones and together, with his expert advice, created the ideal setting that I love and will treasure forever. He was very understanding when I returned a couple of days later after picking up the pendant to say that I had made a mistake on the order I wanted the stones to be placed in the setting and very graciously told me not to worry and had a couple of the stones reset at no cost to me...now that is what a call good customer service!

In the near future, we will be working again to design a ring with the remaining diamonds from my mother's wedding rings and I am confidant that whatever setting I choose will be awesome.
