Went to check out the new store that opened this week and it's horrible.
It's about 1/3 the size of the old store, doesn't have a Joe Muggs coffee shop, and feels horribly crowded. The aisles are narrow and hard to navigate. The shelves are in no logical order. The sections are tiny, only carrying what looks to be the top 20 titles/authors in each genre. I can't believe that I drove nearly 90 minutes to be this massively disappointed.
I used to visit the BAM in southlake mall 2 or 3 times a month and spend $50 in books alone, as well as buying drinks and snacks at the Joe Muggs. Now I won't bother to make the trip. It used to be the best bookstore within 2 hours of where I live, beating out a Barnes & Noble that is 20 minutes away from my house as well as the B&N that is in Valporaiso (about 15 min up the road.) But with a bargain section that is barely there, and none of the harder to find titles that made the trip worthwhile, it's not worth the bother anymore. I'll save the gas money for more books, unfortunately that will have to come from Amazon at this rate.
Also, people were being allowed to stand right outside the main entrance to the store and smoke. Besides being incredibly rude, and against state law, the employee I mentioned it to blew me off mumbling something that sounded like "hold your breath or use the...
Read moreI had a fantastic experience at this place. This hidden gem is a paradise for book lovers and collectors alike. The moment you walk in, you're greeted by the cozy, welcoming atmosphere and the unmistakable scent of new books.
Their selection is impressively diverse — from rare first editions and vintage novels to the latest bestsellers and niche genres you don't often find in big chain stores. Beyond the books, their collection of collectibles is incredible: classic comics, pop culture memorabilia, vinyl records, and other treasures that make every visit feel like a new adventure.
The staff is friendly, passionate, and always ready to help with recommendations or finding a specific title. You can tell they really care about curating a unique and high-quality inventory. Whether you're a reader, a collector, or both, this place is a must-visit. Highly...
Read moreI ordered online. I had a coupon code, and there was a box on the checkout screen that said coupon codes could be applied on the last screen. I paid with PayPal, and on the PayPal screen, I pushed the button that said “continue to review order”. When it went back to the Books-a-Million site, my order had placed. I contacted customer service to either apply my discount code (it was $20 off) or cancel my order. Costumer service informed me that I could not cancel my order, and it was non-returnable. My request for my discount code to be applied wasn’t even acknowledged. Very disappointing customer service. In this day and age when I can order from anywhere, I’ll certainly choose companies with better customer service...
