Update: Left this place - went to a locally owned store nearby instead, and spent nearly $975. Discrimination at its best. Take your money to a local music store and support a local family instead of a money hungry company. This is a company that clearly has not done their research on this virus. For a virus that has a higher survival rate (lower fatality rate) than that of me getting out on the highway in front of this store, it is unacceptable to demand that your guests and customers be required to wear a mask. If the state is mandating it, that’s one thing, but for a local location to demand it when it is not a policy handed down by officials, that’s an entirely different thing. For those who have non-contagious respiratory issues that are exasperated by a mask, this puts their lives in danger and it is a direct discrimination of those persons to turn them away as such. Do yourself a favor and support the local music shops in the area instead. This company has too much money and they don’t really need your business evidently. The mere fact that there are mass gatherings of people closer than 6ft apart and wearing no masks during all of this rioting and protesting... and this store is still demanding people wait in line outside to be ushered in and only then so long as they have a mask, something is not making sense. Take your money to the local music shops - this one is likely getting government funding for imposing such drastic and draconian measures. Three months after virus season. Not impressed. Extremely disappointed. This location is an hours drive for me, all to be turned away at the door. There is a good place that’s ten times better - 2-3 hrs away, but it is worth the drive for me. I will be taking my money there tomorrow. I was planning on buying band equipment today, not here...There are tons of other stores not requiring a line to get in and masks for entry - take your...
Read moreI will no longer use this store. I have done a lot of shopping with them and they used to have a few employees that were really knowledgeable about instruments. I can no longer say that unfortunately. I had bought a guitar from them that cited over a grand and after I got it it kinda sat in the stand and never got touched so I decided to sell it back to them. I knew I would get the usual 60% used value instead of what I paid for it and that was all fine and dandy. However the guitar had sat over the winter and due to temperature changes it did need a truss rod adjustment which takes less than a minute to do. Well upon the “tech” seeing the guitar he said it needed a whole new nut and that he’d do it for about $200 which is a absurd price for that work and a $10 part. I told him no thanks that’s not the problem to which the employee argued with me saying that it was. I told him that I was not going to argue with somebody who has no idea what they are talking about. So I grabbed a small screwdriver, adjusted the truss rod wheel at the end of the neck and tuned it up in less than 2 minutes and it fixed the issue in a minute or less. I can only imagine if someone buys a guitar and they pay this guitar center for a setup. If the technician can’t understand a truss rod adjustment I fear what damage hed do to a guitar with a active circuitry like a sustainiac. Let alone if he can’t do a truss rod adjustment he cannot set up a guitar at all. Extremely disappointed with who they hire to do very skilled jobs. From now on I’ll use the competition at Sweetwater since Sweetwater has to pass a test in order to be hired and are very knowledgeable. With who guitar center hires now a days it’s no wonder they’ve filled for bankruptcy...
Read moreI love our local Guitar Center!!! Always friendly staff members too!! They purposely hire musicians, so their recommendations are worth hearing!! There is a young gentleman named Steve, or Stephen, with longer, dark hair, who has worked there for quite a long time, who should be put into the spotlight!!! He is a great guy, and he always has great advice, since he is also a multi-talented musician as well!!! If I see Steve, nobody else's opinion matters!! He is certainly one of the best employees there! He has helped me decide, on the right gear, for my purpose, every time, for years now! This time, was no different! I was looking at mini Midi control keyboards, for recording musical ideas, on my laptop, since my little M-Audio mini died. I was looking at the smallest, cheapest one, then started looking at the other options, which are many. They always have a great selection of multiple different options of anything you shop for. There is always, at the least, one other option, but this item has many, many possible choices, literally! On Steve's recommendation, I bought a new Akai MPK mini play, midi keyboard controller. Thank God I listen to Steve! Smart guy! Awesome product! I almost bought the wrong one for ME, and would've missed out on all of the extra features, that I didn't know we're available. The Akai MPK mini play, is the first dual purpose controller, that I have seen, or used. It is a midi recording controller, for software instrumentation control, AND a portable keyboard, with beat pads, & built-in sounds for both, so that you can perform live with it, too! Thanks again Steve! You ROCK buddy!!! Give this guy a raise, and/or a promotion! He deserves...
