I’m from Texas and am visiting a friend in Utah. I’ve never had an issue at a Texas Michael’s location. The St. George store had notably different customer service standards. I needed some extra yarn for a project I brought on this trip. I went to the store, and the color I needed (which was just plain black) was out of stock. No problem. The same brand had a slightly different yarn that I thought I could make work, since it would be in a different panel. Trouble was that the available skeins were clearly a different shade of black and a slightly different texture. Same yarn. Same skew. Weird. But I decided I would buy both and use whichever was the best match to what I already had. The online promo was buy one get one half off, so I placed an order and planned to return later to pick up. I knew they would probably give me two of the matching ones and that I would need to swap one to get the different shades. No problem. When it was ready, I picked up the order and went to the back to grab the other shade. I should have just swapped it out. But I didn’t want to do anything wrong. So I took it to the front and told an associate that I was just needing to switch out the identical skeins. She made a big deal of me needing to do a return and repurchase the yarn. I tried to explain that they were the same and she insisted they weren’t. I pointed out that the skews were the same. She said they were different. She told me I had to stand in line and do the return. Fine. I did. When I got to the register, I tried to further explain the whole story which was simply that I was trying to best match what I already had and that the two different dye lots were markedly different in both color and texture, so I was needing them both. She was adamant that they weren’t different. I finally said, “ ok, I’ll just let you do what you need to do.” She was very rude and had no interest in even understanding what I was saying. Then she tried to tell me that the new skein was more than I had paid. I then had to go into the explanation that the skeins were buy one get one half off online. Bottom line is that it took forever and of course I had somewhere to be. She was very rude and didn’t listen. I would never return to this store. Utah needs to take a lesson from how we do customer service...
Read moreAfter putting my 13 year old dog down this morning, I went in to buy things to make a nice wooden box for his ashes. Being so clouded by grief, despair, and heartache, I didn’t notice that my kids were playing with these little two dollar toys. While checking out, Some small, black haired lady came over and told me that I had to buy the things, which is fine. It wasn’t the fact that she told me that I had to buy them, but she couldn’t have been more rude and condescending, or judgmental in her words, tone, or facial expressions, if she tried.
What has been one of the hardest days, She made worse by judging and treating me like a pile of garbage. I could tell she was judging my parenting by the way my boys were acting, without even caring what is going on in our personal world. She could have politely told me that because the boys have been playing with it, I need to purchase it, and ask me if she could help ring it up. Instead, she accused my kids of being destructive, and then went and grabbed a barcode for it, rudely stepped in front of me, and scanned them without even any eye contact, and when I asked her what happens if I don’t have enough money for it, she just walked off with the dirtiest look on her face. Her customer service skills are absolutely disgusting. Her lack of respect, compassion, or even humanity, is even worse. So thank you, Michael’s Employee, for making one of our worst days in our load of other struggles, even worse, with your terrible judgmental attitude and pure meanness. Some people are barely hanging on by a thread, and it’s rude people like you that make things that much harder to handle and deal with. And if you hate people and your job enough to treat someone like that, then I suggest working elsewhere. We will not be returning...
Read morePLEASE READ CAREFULLY. If I could give this store less then one star I would. Our family has taken professional pictures and I have taken them to Michaels for them to mount on my own frame and put a hanger wire on the back.
Every time I go it seems I have a different employee helping me at the frame department and every time I go they charge me a different price to do the same kind of work within a period of 3 months.
The first time, I was charged $37.00 , the second time $159.00 for the same kind of work and the same frame size. Of course I didn’t pay the 159.00. After asking why there was that much difference they looked into the computer and saw that I had paid $37.00, so they charged me the same.
Yesterday, Mar 19, 20, I went again and the department manager Stephanie was there. She charged me $43.00. So, I asked why every time I come the price is different for the same kind of work. She said because they all charged you wrong.
I said to her that she needed to be more consistent on prices, especially on the same kind of work. In a rude way she said, if you are not happy with it you can go some where else. There was no need to respond in such a snide way when I was only asking a question.
Then, she refused to give me a pen to write a note on the order for whomever did the work. Instead she said, “You don’t need to write a note, I know how to do my job, as If to say, I don’t care how you want it done, my way is good enough for you. Just accept it AND the price. You’re not going to tell ME what or how to do anything!” My husband was there to witness it. That’s not good enough for me OR him.
I think Michaels needs to replace Stephanie. She is a horrible example of...
