Ordered it to go for my sons birthday party with family. It was a big order so I placed the order around noon to pick up at 5:45 p.m. I arrived at 6:00 and apologized that I was late. Only to find out that it wasn't ready. Not only was it not ready they couldn't find my order and kept trying to convince me I was someone else. After 2 people came and tried to help me they sent the supervisor person out and she apologized and said they couldn't find the order. I had to show my email as proof. It was eventually found but nobody had paid attention to it since it was ordered early for a later pick up, then it just got lost in the orders I guess. So it wasn't ready. She said they would get right on it and have it right out for me. Well an hour later I was finally leaving with our food. It took forever to get. They were pretty busy, but they didn't know how to handle it at all. It was mass chaos with walk ins and trying to keep a list. There wasn't a single person in charge and so I'd hear someone tell a party of 4 it would be 30-40 minutes and then another person tell the next party of 4 it would 10-15 minutes. No consistency. I was able to watch the mad dash in the kitchen. I watched the cooks put food up on to the warmer tray ready to be delivered and sometimes it sat there for 10 minutes before it was taken out. There was one cook I repeatedly saw set the food up there heavy handed and food fall of the plate. One instance half the fries fell off the plate and onto the warmer tray and floor, they were not replaced before being delivered to the person who ordered it. I realize this doesn't have much to do with my order, but when one has to sit and wait for an hour for their food that should have been ready an hour and half earlier there is a lot to take in and watch. I felt bad for the customers and I felt bad for the workers. There was no jive, no connectedness. I have refused to eat at Winger's because of consistently poor service. It's never been good really. But this is what my son wanted so I conceded. Unfortunately it was another poor experience. The people were friendly but they just couldn't seem to get a handle on things. We ordered the family packs and I thought I'd ordered sticky fingers but I guess I hit the Wings button instead. So, not only was the whole waiting experience bad but then we didn't even get the food we wanted. That's my fault not theirs. However, the wings were all hot and fresh and my family seemed to enjoy them even though it wasn't what they wanted. The fries were cold by the time I got them home, but they weren't soggy and had good flavor. The salad was still crispy and there was plenty of salad dressing to go around. All in all the food was good. But the experience as a whole was not. If I can help it we will not be going back. It's hard to spend over $100 on food and have that kind...
Read moreWingers is a family favorite of ours - they have reliably tasty and quality food that everyone can enjoy. The St. George Wingers was able to seat my family without wait on a Friday night as compared to most restaurants in the area that quoted us a 30-60 minute wait.
The ordering of drinks was a little awkward. When it was my turn to order and I asked for a beer, the server became visibly uncomfortable and said she had to go get her manager. The manager came over, and said, "it's my understanding that someone here wants to order alcohol?". I was starting to feel like my ordering a beer was so unusual that it needed a manager to deal with me as an escalated issue - only in Utah, I suppose. After ordering my beer, they scanned my ID, which also felt a bit invasive vs. just looking at my birthdate. Anyway, both my wife and I felt a bit weird from that experience, but we didn't let it affect our overall dining experience.
We got a sticky finger salad, which is a staple menu item for my family. Wingers has the best sticky fingers - their sauce is amazing and they are always cooked perfectly so they are tender and juicy. Combining that on a salad results in a good combination of meat and veggies. We ordered extra sticky finger meat in the salad and it didn't seem like we got it, so they either forgot, or shrinkflation hit Wingers too (we did get charged an extra $2.50 for it though). I had the salmon tacos, and they also had a great flavor. Salmon was a bit dry, but I wasn't expecting a wings restaurant to have exquisite salmon either. Last, we ordered the rosemary garlic fries, and they are to die for! Incredible flavor - they disappeared off the table FAST! They were a bit greasy, but that's probably intrinsic to how this particular dish is made.
The atmosphere was hopping - it was full and as noisy as one would expect on a Friday night. Outside of the weirdness of ordering a drink, it's a solid place for...
Read moreThe food is tasty here but the service is often terrible and the restaurant always feels a little less clean than it should be. It puts a damper on the dining experience when they seat you at a table that was just wiped but still feels sticky and dirty, when your server only comes around once in a blue moon to refill drinks, and when you have to wait a really long time for your order when there are only three other patrons in the restaurant. Also, because of the layout of the restaurant, some seats look directly into the kitchen, and the kitchen, especially the floor, just always looks dirty.
On a minor note but still worth mentioning, they also seem to have done away with the free popcorn that they used to bring to the tables, which was kind of their signature novelty and was always fun to smell as you walked in and then munch on while you waited for your order (especially because the wait is often so long for the food). Last time we were here it took 45 minutes for our food to come out in a restaurant that was almost empty. We had both ordered the same thing - sticky finger tacos (delicious, by the way). Around the 40 minute mark, I was about to ask someone for an approximate ETA on our meal, but I realized I could see our meals just sitting there in the window. An employee stood nearby, looking at their cell phone. Another two employees were also nearby engaged in some back and forth banter, and our server was nowhere to be seen. This place already has yummy food, so stepping up their service and the cleanliness of the restaurant would...
