Reason for 2 the stars is their price match policy. They say right on the store front that they price match... What they don't say is that you have to provide proof of life, proof of citizenship, and much more.
That's not entirely true, but the point I'm trying to make is that they make it very difficult to price match - it's like they don't want to price match. Even though you are showing them the EXACT SAME PRODUCT on a competitors site, they will make you pull up the product number... It's not enough to show the exact same product, you still have to show that the product codes match. None of which they tell you in their price match policy.
Most websites, on a mobile device, don't show that level of information.
I found 5 websites that showed the same item at the same price. But it wasn't enough. The store manager would not budge.
Very disappointed in how the store manager handled this. He clearly was trying to follow the letter of the law and was not helpful, nor friendly.
I went to Als Sporting Goods, and they didn't have a problem with the price match and gladly did so! I'll definitely start going there.
Advice to SW management, be easy to do business with and you'll do more business.
Response Edit:
I’m very familiar with your price match policy. It states nothing in there about having to show items product code from the competing website. It says to present a verifiable copy of the advertised price.
Showing the brand of the item, showing the model name of the item, and showing the same size and color of the item is apparently not enough to be verifiable. You require, but don’t state, that the customer has to show the product code? Really? It’s bad customer service and business policy to require so many hoops to jump through. And it’s frankly the reason why I’ve decided to not go back and either head to Al’s Sporting Goods or shop online where I don’t have to prove anything and I just get the best price.
I hope you take this into consideration and update your policy to reflect that if the customer can provide 3/5 verifiable bits of information that you’ll...
Read moreOne star is being Generous, I was looking to purchase my first kayak, and my friend and I called several locations, when my friend called me and let me know he found a kayak at the St George location. I went online and ordered the kayak. An hour later I started my hour and a half drive to pick it up. When I arrived at the location, I noticed that the same kayak I had ordered was on the floor. after browsing the store I went to the desk to ask about the kayak I had ordered. The cashier was pleasant I let her know I had placed and online order for a kayak and she radioed someone to come help me. An older gentleman comes up and was very rude. He asked if I was the person he spoke with on the phone. I let him know I wasn't me but a friend who told me that you guys had one kayak in stock. The employee than said, "Well your friend lied, I told him the kayak is not sell-able because it doesn't have a seat. I was very clear to him on the phone, he must have had you order it immediately after the call before I could take it out of the system." He then turned around and walked away. Some on the worst customer service I have ever witnessed in my life. I wasn't the person he talked to on the phone. I, a PAYING customer had already paid for the kayak and driven an hour and a half to pick up it up. He didn't try to work anything out with me. I was not planning on using said kayak immediately we could have worked something out. After the fact I spoke with my friend, who let me know when he spoke with the store. I placed my order 20 minutes after the phone call. If the kayak wasn't for sale why was it still, 3 hours after the fact, still out on the floor? I highly recommend if you need to shop at sportsman's in this area go to Cedar City or Las Vegas where you can get real customer service and not have to deal with...
Read moreI'm torn with sportsmans. I've had decent experiences with them here in St George. However, my mom was recently scammed by a salesman there. She went in after I recommended them looking for a shotgun for home defense. She has little experience with shotguns and relied on their advice for an easy reliable shotgun. The sold her a semiautomatic cz shotgun that only accepts 3" shells which sportmans hasn't had in stock for over a year. When she tried to go back and return it in exchange for a pump action, they told her no. I'm very disappointed in sportsmans for taking advantage of a woman in order to get a sale.
UPDATE I just called in to their support line and spoke with Erin. She was rude and snappy with me. When I asked to speak with her supervisor she first told me she had no supervisor, then she said she was going to put me on a 5 min hold and "see" if a supervisor was willing to talk to me. The second CSR I talked to was incredibly helpful though so that's a bright spot in this issue. I'm currently waiting for a supervisor to call me back.
UPDATE: I just went into the store and spoke with several people at the gun counter. The first guy could only say "I'm sorry you feel that way". The second guy couldn't quit lecturing me on firearms and the lady manager was friendly for the most part but entirely unhelpful. I have not doubt they will do nothing to correct the situation. Good thing there are plenty of other gun stores around that actually take care of their customers.
Update: After some back and forth they resolved the issue. I was actually surprised and grateful. It's nice to see a company do the right thing after making a mistake. I've changed my star rating...
