This review mostly pertains to how we were treated the last few months, and the move out protocol. The first year and a half we had no issues, and in fact it was a great experience living there. However, some huge issues with move-out deductions, and pest control arose at the end of our tenure. The only reason why Iām giving Cadillac Lofts 1 star is the maintenance crew was awesome. Every time we had an issue, they came same day to fix it. My first grievance towards living at Cadillac, is probably the pest control. I probably put in 10 requests to spray for german cockroaches, and while pest control did come and spray, it made absolutely no difference. It even got to a point where I put in a standing request for pest control to come in each week to spray, and for two months this went on without much effect on the cockroaches. No matter how many times our apartment was sprayed, no matter how clean we kept it, and our food properly contained, the cockroaches never went away. Itās pretty infuriating when youāre paying 1350 a month and you have german cockroaches everywhere. The second issue I had, and this only happened a couple of times, but there were instances where we received notice to vacate because we had not paid that monthās rent. Once I received the notices on my door, I checked my bank account, only to see that the checks turned in to the office for rent, had already been deposited. I can see once as a mishap, but the fact that this happened twice in the span of 8 months suggests a real lack of attention on the part of management.
The real disappointment came when we received our final account balance after we had moved out. After final review, management sent us a list of total deductions from our deposit. Some of the charges I had no problem with, but there were 3 specific deductions that I had an issue with: 175.00 for a āspecial pet feeā, 175.00 for a full unit clean, and 194.00 for utilities.
I brought these questions up to Jennifer, the current manager, and she assured me during our first phonecall that she would send me proof of billing and any other documentation to verify that these deductions were legitimate. After a couple of days of receiving nothing, I called the office and was told she was training a new hire, but she would call me back. I received no call back, so I called the next day, and it was the same story. I waited a couple more days, and sent an email asking when we would receive the verification, still no response. After a full week of no response to either calls or email, my wife called and was able to get through to Jennifer. Jennifer assured my wife that she would be sending everything that afternoon. Spoiler alert, nothing came. I emailed Jennifer the following Tuesday, still no response. I called again the following Wednesday, and it was the same exact story, āsheās out of the office, but Iāll tell her you calledā. Iāve called four times already by this point, emailed Jennifer 3 other times, and still no response to any communication. At this point, I have to believe that she was actively avoiding me, because these charges are bogus, and she has no proof that these charges were necessary, or actually done. This is the first time Iāve ever done business with an entity that was deliberately deceitful. I had no issue paying the amount, as long as that amount was accurate. All I requested was verification that these deductions were proper, and I received no such proof after multiple efforts. After filing a complaint with the BBB, I finally received some further information on the charges, but the special pet service fee and the cleaning fee were done āin houseā so there was no billing or receipts, or what exactly it entailed. I also never received utility billing that showed I was properly charged, Cadillac Lofts just regurgitated numbers I was already quoted. If you do choose to live here, be sure to document every single scratch or mark, and do the walk-through with the manager or else they will charge you anything they can legally...

It's unfortunate I am writing this review today. I have been a resident of Cadillac for 3 years. My problems arent with the building, its with the people running it. Your loyalty and tenure is not of value here, you are a number. You will be punished for the lack of leadership and management issues, please take this as a warning to stay away and choose one of the many other lofts and options in the area.
I had been a resident for 2 years, going on my third. I requested to renew for my 3rd year, 3 months before the active lease was up / new lease were to begin. Ample time to prepare a lease, right? Unfortunately, I made the request while Cadillac was going through their 3rd management change. Well, you guessed it, I NEVER received my lease... for months. I was told, "pay your rent as normal, we are working on the lease" for months and months. I asked for updates, i emailed asking for my lease, nothing. What should have been received and signed in July, didn't come until October. I was not month to month, i requested to renew for a 12 month lease.
Well, what i knew would happen due to the negligence of Cadillac, happened.
Come October 2024, i received a notice that I had a new lease and that i needed to sign it immediately as they didn't have me on file as a long term tenant. I was rushed to sign, though I waited months, so I signed it. These people did not credit me for the months and months i paid for rent without a lease while i requested to be on one.
Fast forward today, I have paid 12 months of rent. Now, because I was given the lease in October, they are holding me to October.
I emailed management May of 2025 of this issue and that my lease would / should be ending in August. I checked in with them every month for months, asked for updates, didn't receive updates. I did my part. The day I tell them I am handing over my keys (my 12 months of payments are over), they decide to decline and force me to continue paying. Reminder, they have had since May (my original request for them to review) to do the right thing, sell the apt, get new tenant, etc.
Thankfully, I have a family attorney. Thankfully, I have the documentation and emails to and from Cadillac of my requests to renew in May of 2024 (which would have been an August to August lease), their emails back and forth apologizing for not getting me my lease, their email asking me to continue paying rent as normal and as if i was on a lease, and much more.
Bad people and bad management deserve to be held accountable. It's principal to be decent to people, especially to long term tenants. I share this story so others considering investing their money and livelihood in Cadillac are aware of how you will be treated, and what to expect from their management. You will be punished for their mistakes, so beware.
Unfortunately, we will be taking this to small claims court. My intention of this review is to shed light on who you are investing your money and livelihood in. You are at risk, beware, stay...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreBeen living here 3+ years. 2 years ago I would have given this place 4 or 5 stars. Now 3 is generous.
Generally I really like this place and have greatly enjoyed my time here. This is one of my favorite apartments I've lived at. Great location, good community, two parks across the street for pets, good vibes, solid pricing compared to similar places around this location or downtown overall. In my experience, maintenance was generally responsive over the last few years.
The last year has seen a notably sharp decline in quality. An elevator has been out of service for more than a full calendar year with no sign of it ever being fixed. Several pet owners are terrible. Their dogs lunge after others and their owners don't pick up their dogs' messes, at the park or otherwise. Neighbors and myself routinely see and discuss the fact that we see dog shit and dog piss all over the building that isn't cleaned up. As I write this there is tracked-in dog shit from the park on one of the entryway steps that has not been cleaned up for several days.
There has been a barrage of swapped property managers. My initial lease was screwed up by a property manager in 2021; thankfully it was later properly fixed at no cost to me by an excellent manager, Tim Casanova, who is praised in other reviews. Casanova unfortunately no longer works here and my renewal last year was handled by the most inept property manager I've ever had the misfortune of working with--problems which I am now having to fix that are complicating an upcoming cross-country move.
Despite all of these problems and the declining quality, rent still continues to increase. I will however give this place credit that during the 2021 and 2022 rent hikes all across the nation, my rent here went up very minuscule amounts. Small victories like that are why this place still gets 3 stars instead of 2. I don't know if this was the case for everyone though.
Could you do better? Probably. Could you do worse? Absolutely. See how this place goes after the new property manager gets a chance to fix prior mistakes (a new one just started this month). This place might be back to a 4 star that I strongly recommend by the time I leave. Right now I can only do so with caveats.
July 2025 update: Management incorrectly charged me for almost double my rent (two separate rent amounts) so the rating has been changed to one star. This comes after several lease and fee-related issues across multiple property managers.
It's funny how landlords can take money out of your bank account immediately but despite being an on-time tenant for years, it still takes at least a full week to get your money back after they stole an extra $1,000+ from you. Their mistakes are never swiftly fixed, as power is imbalanced in their favor.
I no longer recommend this...
