Very self-serving. When attempting to purchase a ticket for a show online, I find I am prompted by the following: "How would you like to make your purchase?" (Or something to that effect). The only option offered is to sign-in to an existing account or create a new account! I should not have to create an "account" just to purchase tickets. I'm not seeking a "relationship" with the Tobin, or a membership, I just wanted to buy a ticket to a singular show. The buffoon on the phone said, "well, that's the way we do things". Well, then I guess I don't need to buy tickets for any show at the Tobin, that's the way I do things.

Comment after "owner" response:

Okay, so I'll let you take care of "the buffoon on the phone". I do however feel compelled to respond to your response.

First, thank you for responding at all, but your response really isn't much different than the buffoon's response. It's just reworded but with the same message. I'm not stupid enough to believe there is anything altruistic about your "ticketing system".

Historically, tickets for entertainment venues have been available without the need to create an "account". I didn't have to create an account at the Majestic.

Point-of-fact, you do indeed seek a "relationship" as you wish to fill my inbox with advertisements and "news of coming events". That only serves to elicit more business. Not that there is anything inherently wrong with that...I just don't want it.

The better response (and would have been much appreciated), would be to share with me any and all purchase options that do not include creating an "account". Which does in-fact mean starting a relationship...which is something I'm just not willing to do as the last thing I need is another friggin password.

You didn't do that thereby proving my indictment that you are indeed "self-serving".

I'll just stick with the Majestic. Much easier and they have better shows. They also have a friendlier and more...

I need to first start out by saying this was one of the most confusing websites for buying tickets I have ever tried to navigate. I am not an IT expert, and maybe that's the degree I need in order to buy these tickets. They need to go and look at other websites like Santikos and Eventbrite to understand how to sell a ticket on the internet. We were never able to complete the purchase but we wanted to see the show so we went to the venue. The parking may be the second hurdle to jump. Their garage is a block away. They do have valet parking which may be a choice. It wasn't the worst walk, but in challenging weather it would have been horrible. We were told that there was a cart that went back and forth, I only saw the cart sitting in a distance with the driver sitting at the wheel. This was pre Showtime so I don't know if there's a place to stand or not, but just not an ideal parking situation. The parking lot was super clean, new and seemed safe. Just know if you park there it may be a little isolated if you don't go directly back to your car. The staff that greeted you and took tickets were amazing. One in particular I think her name was Shirley, was probably the friendliest person I've met in a long time in the service industry. The personnel in the ticket will call all the way to the staff in the restaurant we're Epic. By the way if you're looking for a little nosh before the show they're spread was incredible. Don't know if it's regular but the restaurant was serving a little Buffet with offerings like sauteed chicken, potatoes, vegetables. Full disclosure I wasn't hungry so I didn't taste it, but my friend said it was incredible. And the desserts were just as tasting. The Theater seating was very comfortable. It was perfect for viewing the stage. The Box seating seems like it might be nice. Overall experience I would go back again, but maybe by then they'll fix that...

I hadn’t been here in many years, so I’m finally writing a review for the Tobin. Although I enjoy going to the Majestic, the Tobin outshines the Majestic in several areas.

I was seated in the balcony, and I had a great view of the stage. The seats were well-spaced, and I had plenty of legroom. The bathrooms and bars were well-located, and the service was quick.

Here are some specific details about my experience: • Balcony seating: The balcony seating at the Tobin Center is excellent. The seats are comfortable and well-spaced, and the view of the stage is unobstructed. I had a great view of the performers, and I didn't feel like I was missing anything. • Bathrooms and bars: The bathrooms and bars at the Tobin Center are conveniently located. There are bathrooms on the mezzanine, balcony, and ground floor, so you're never far from a restroom. There are also bars on the mezzanine and ground floor, so you can get a drink before or during the show. I never had to wait long for drinks, or to use the bathroom – lines can be pretty bad at the Majestic for these. • Noble app – download and setup this app before you go, so you can place your drink order from your seat and then skip the line at the bar to pick them up (the lines weren’t bad when I was here, so I didn’t have to use the app)

I would definitely recommend the Tobin Center to anyone looking for a great place to see a show. The venue is beautiful, the staff is friendly, and the service is excellent. I had a great experience, and I'm sure...

My twelve-year-old son performed in the "boys to MEN" show on November 18,18 at Tobin Center for the Performing Arts. I have lived in San Antonio for a year and a half, so it was my first time there. The Center is stunning and clean. Even the bathrooms are to die for, and it was surprising that it has six floors. It's quite the sight. The show was fantastic and very well put together. Our seats were in the Orchestra left, and the view was perfect. Cons: The concession stands were not well stocked, and we had to go up to the fourth floor to get Popcorn which was the only snack available. The Popcorn was served in a see-through plastic bag, and it tasted okay. Not what I expect in a theater. Growing up in NYC I genuinely enjoy going to the theater, and I was excited for my children to experience the same, but sadly I was disappointed. The atmosphere at Tobin Center did not feel welcoming. I worked for one of the most prominent theatres in NYC, and friendly service was our number priority. The ushers do not walk you to your seats which was a first for me. Only a couple of the employees were friendly. Everyone else appeared unhappy to be there. Not even a smile. I am not sure if this was because it was a free show but that was my personal experience. I wouldn't mind attending another show in the future but the customer service and food where not up to par with the beauty of this theather.

The parking structure sucks to get in. They had one person working the entrance, it caused a massive delay on the street for everyone. Once in the structure it's plain to see they oversold the parking. In the venue the seats were nice and spacious. The sound quality wasn't as good as I feel everyone is making them out to be. The orchestra was great, don't get me wrong but the impact from sound felt like it was lacking. The Nutcracker performance itself was good. There were tons of people being very noisy during the show and is was distracting. Thought the staff would step in and correct the issue but they did not. When leaving the parking lot on of the attendants dented my car hitting it with his glowstick. He was trying to show me a side street which I appreciate. What I don't appreciate was the manner in which he did it. Don't hit my car with your glowstick to get my attention, use your hand to politely knock on my window. Relax, it's the nutcracker at San Antonio, not a Lakers game in L.A. when I rolled down my window to address the issue with the attendant he threw an attitude at me. Real classy bro, be happy the cops were behind you. I'll just catch any shows I want to see at the majestic. Paid a lot of money for a dissapointing experience and now I've gotta pull a dent out of my car.

The Tobin and Carlos Alvarez are awesome venues. I've had seats all over, and never had a bad view. The staff (almost all volunteer, at least at performances) is very accommodating. The range of performers/acts means there is something for anyone. Below picture on the left is from the balcony (you can see over railing). Below picture on the right is from right orchestra, row Y. Edit: I attended a vaudeville performance at the Carlos Alvarez last week, which was essentially a variety show, with each act lasting a few minutes (a song). While the Alvarez is usually general admission, this show had assigned seats. For reasons I can't figure out, the ushers showed late comers to their seats in the middle of the acts, rather than waiting for a break! Where I was sitting (row 2), they walked back and forth in front of me numerous times. It's not enough to make me downgrade my overall rating yet, but another similar episode will. Also, and this isn't the Alvarez's fault, but audience members would also leave in the middle of acts. I have never seen such a rude audience. Unless they thought it was okay because the ushers were doing the same?
