We are regulars four years at their other location on O'Connor Road and 35 and we just happened to be closer to this location on the day we visited. I just have to say the similarities stop at having the same menu. Quality and taste of the food is not even comparable to the other location and we ended up not even eating our food. Everything tasted like it was made from a can. I have never sent my food back and left in my entire life and felt horrible for doing so but since our entire order was the same quality, we didn't feel like ordering a different plate would fix anything. The waiter was understanding and apologized and we had no other staff related issues. It was just the taste of the food and depressing atmosphere with no music. It's disappointing, to say, we will not be returning to this location. Ended up returning to O'conner location last night and as always great food, great service (like family after 10 years return dining), and great atmosphere with music, oh and comfortable boths which i can't say for this location downtown. Oh and the food looked ok for the most part until you took a bite. One plate even tasted like buffalo sauce gone bad and like I said the rest of it just tasted like it was straight out of the can.

This is a Tex-Mex restaurant, not a Mexican authentic restaurant at all. They sell expired Mexican Cokes. I tried their chicharron and picadillo gorditas and they both were disappointing, weird spices they use, I couldn’t finish them, not because of the size (they’re huge) but bc of the flavor. The parrillada was good, enchiladas as well, their menudo kinda weird as well. The only very nice thing was the Birria tacos and the Agua de horchata. I went there June 1st, some of us asked for a Mexican glass bottle coke and the expiration date was May 8, 2025. Even before noticing this we all agreed the coke tasted as if it was being opened and refilled with coke from the fountain drink machine. We asked for another one showing the waitress the expiration date, and brought us a new one but with the same taste, no gas at all. If you are Mexican you can really know the difference between Mexican glass bottle coke and fake one. Very disappointed.

Been coming here for a decade, the quality is good and the service usually is too. That said, their prices are higher than they used to be to where there are similar/cheaper options and honestly they are really skimping with some of their breakfast tacos. Like putting in so little sometimes to where calling it a taco is generous, as shown in the photo below. If they can fix that, I’ll come here for another decade, but been disappointed last few times Update: things have definitely improved last few times I've been here, back to how they have historically been, and so it will remain my go-to spot when I'm in town. It does seem to vary a little bit depending on who is working the drive through window (if the woman who's usually there is working, the food is always better), but it's always good still at least nowadays. Keep the portions and flavors like they have been and I'll keep coming!

New Carne Guisada Recipe?? Gross!

I've been coming to this restaurant for many years especially when it was initially located across the street on McCullough where a old Pizza Hut once was. I had always been satisfied with everything from their tacos to burritos and everything else in between. However today was a different story. I don't know if they changed cooks but when I ordered a carne guisada taco through the drive thru (mind you again, I have ate at this establishment for many years), I found a huge bay leaf in my second bite of the taco. Upon taking my second bite, I got completely disgusted because I didn't know if what I had in mouth was a flying roach wing or not. I lost my appetite and had ordered this on my lunch break.

When I called and reported it to a "Patty", I explained to her that I had been coming here for many years and that I had never found a leaf in a carne guisda taco. This leaf was huge. She stated that they cook now with "bay leaves" and if I could go back to the restaurant to bring back the taco, she would redo the taco or give me a refund. Unfortunately, I couldn't go back because I work in the medical field and was on my lunch break. I explained this to her and she said "that's okay just come by after work and anyone should be able to help you". And from what I discovered, restaurants that cook with bay leaves take it out of the food before serving it to customers.

This BAY LEAF was HUGE and when I bit into the taco I thought it was a roach wing! I lost my appetite completely!

After work I headed over to the restaurant and spoke with a short dark Hispanic man that got very easily defensive. I explained to him what was discussed with Patty and what she was going to do to resolve the problem but apparently, she did not leave a note. The man I was speaking to got confrontational and stated "well what do you want me to do about it"? Again, I had to explain to him on how Patty was going to resolve the issue. I also provided him the taco just like Patty had instructed and showed him the huge bay leaf. He was even disgusted but still was defensive so he grabbed the taco and took it back into the kitchen and had it remake it without leaf.

When he came back to the front, he handled me the taco and I told him frankly, I will not be returning here anymore and I do not want another taco because I was disgusted. He was very unprofessional, easily defensive and struggle to come up with a easy solution. He failed at customer service and...

Apparently this restaurant closes at 9:30 but their website says 10 PM. We got here at 9:19 PM. I suggested they need to update their time online. That they were only taking food orders to go..All she did was nod her head like she didn’t care. The heavy set waitress with glasses I didn’t know her name because she wasn’t wearing a name badge. She looks to be the only server working this evening. She finally came back to the table to take my order along with her attitude. I ordered my food. It took quite awhile to get it. I like this restaurant because it’s nice people that work here except the big woman clean environment along with the restrooms. But tonight was different. This lady took it too far and I was not impressed by her customer service. She didn’t even apologize. I hate to complain because that is not what I do..but this time I had to do it. The gentleman that was handling the drive through yelled across the dining room letting me know my food was ready to go. I asked for a drink and he also had an attitude. I asked for his name and refuse to give it to me. He is a short man wearing a red shirt. DONT COME HERE THESE PEOPLE DONT KNOW HOW TO TREAT CUSTOMERS CORRECTLY. THERE LUCKY I DONT CALL INS OR IMMIGRATION TO CHECK THE STATUS ON...
