Ok, I can't speak highly enough about this Banfield location. I switched my primary location over to this one and I will explain why. My cat Porsche would have died this week if it wasn't for the employees at Banfield Pacific Beach. He was having trouble going to the bathroom, and Banfield suggested I take him to the ER. I think I called this location about 5 times and went in 3 times this week. They have THE most helpful, patient, kind, and genuinely caring about Porsche's health. Throughout every step, they have been happy to pick up the phone, schedule an appointment, and give advice. I literally cannot overstate the fact that if I wasn't in contact with Banfield Pacific Beach, my cat would be dead right now. I got his surgery done at Anicira Pet Hospital because it was a major operation. Jen the manager said, I noticed your other Banfield didn't do these vaccinations for your cat, but that should have been done and you should have been told, so we're going to take care of that free of charge. I was like, wow, you guys really care. I wasn't even asking for a discount, but she was like, you should have been told. We're happy to help. So nice and informative! Lori the receptionist at the front desk, I swear if someone contacted me as many times as I have called Lori, I would have snapped on myself. But Lori has been thorough, friendly, patient, and invested in Porsche's recovery as much as I am it seems. She has been keeping my file up to date, acting a liaison for the doctor, and had the best most authentically positive attitude every single time we've talked. Finally Dr. Erickson, alongside everyone else, had a hands-down crucial role in saving Porsche's life. She helped express his bladder, gave lifesaving advice, even rightfully refusing to see him and instead advising the cat is taken to the ER. Thank God and Dr. Erickson, because he needed surgery! Words cannot express my gratitude for every single team member of Banfield I've been in contact with this past week, and if Porsche could talk he would say thank you, too. On God this cat would be dead this week if I didn't stumble upon this Pacific Beach location. All the Banfields seem to be good, but the people at this one just have a personal level of care and investment it seems in the wellness of their patients. Although it's an additional 10 minute drive from my formerly go-to location, I will never think twice about taking my cats over to Banfield Pacific Beach. I'm attaching pics so you guys know this review isn't a plant. Some people say the only good cat is a dead cat, but Porsche and I vehemently disagree

Over my dog's 4 years of life, we've been to various vets, and I can confidently say that this one is the best! My dog has gotten numerous surgeries here, and every time, the Banfield team has been super open and upfront about costs and recovery. They even taught me how to change my dog's bandages so I didn't have to keep coming in every few days and spending money to have them do it. I cannot recommend this place enough. They also are super helpful when I call them to ask them questions that don't result in an office visit. They really care about all of my dog's quirks and ailments, and they offer advice and expertise over the phone or in person. They also do a really good job of making sure I feel comfortable and am knowledgable about all the treatment and care they give my dog. It may be weird to say that I love how they treat my dog like an individual, but I mean it! My dog can be super moody and scared, but she absolutely ADORES coming here. When we walk past, she tries to lead me inside. All of the vets and vet techs know her by name, and even when she gets shots or procedures done, afterwards, she always seems in good spirits. I can't say that about all the vets we've been to. I also attached a photo they posted of my dog on Instagram - how cute is this? Another fun benefit of Banfield that not all vets do that I (as a young dog mom) ADORE! I wouldn't recommend Banfield PB solely on the Instagram, but it is always hilarious to see Appa's cameo after her visits. I would, however, recommend them for how well they treated and continue to treat Appa, how understanding they are to all of my frantic phone calls, and their openness about price and procedures.

Back in 2020 in the thick of early COVID my oldest dog stupidly jumped off our second floor balcony trying to chase what was seemingly a ghost (she sees demons), and my normal Banfield location in Point Loma was unavailable that day for an emergency appointment. I called around and luckily found the Pacific Beach location and they were able to take my dog in for help that day. When I tell you the level of care and service was top notch, excellent, perfect I’m not exaggerating. I was so scared that day that my sweet idiot dog was going to lose a paw or never run again, and the Banfield PB team brought her back to full marathon runner condition, all the while easing my own anxieties. I’ll forever be thankful for that. When we got our next dog two months later, a puppy, it wasn’t even a question of what vet clinic I wanted to take him to. They took us through every round of shots, his neuter, his random appointments for his irritated paws, and everything else a puppy and young dog would need, and they’ve been extremely good to him, and all of us, ever since. We get regular check-ins, helpful service, excruciating attention to detail, and occasional high-quality and extremely cute photos of them having fun at the vet! It is out of my way to take my dogs to PB for their vet appointments and I still choose to bring them to the PB team because I trust them wholeheartedly with my animals. Look no further, this team genuinely cares about the pets they serve and the owners who love them. I love Banfield PB!!

Updating my original review because this place truly stole my money and misinformed me. I have nothing to say about the quality of care because I always get the service I need, but you just be very careful if you use them.

I had brought my cat in for some vaccines so that he could get on an airplane. I paid $175 for a rabies vaccine, and one dose of distemper. Plus the airline form I needed them to fill out so he could fly. (Already so expensive) This form just states that he was vaccinated by a licensed veterinarian and he’s in good health but Banfield decided to charge me $60 to fill it out. I bite my tongue because he had already been vaccinated and Even though I asked the woman in the beginning how much it would cost she didn’t tell me till she brought out my pet to my car. She hands me the airline form and I noticed that they have one of the vaccines expiring on August 8th. I informed her that I wasn’t flying until the 15th and that I would need this form updated and wasn’t sure why they made it expire. She explained to me that he has to come in for a second dose in a few weeks and that they’ll update it for me free of charge and also that I could come back in and not be charged the $55 vet fee and I could see a vet tech instead and just do the vaccines and not get charged the office fee. She even went on to say that if I get him the second dose by another vet that vet could call their office and fax them over the paperwork and they would go ahead and update the form for me. So all in all, I would just be coming in for them to update the form and to be charged for the new vaccine does that’s it.

I go to call back yesterday To schedule that second dose of distemper and I speak to them on the phone and I said by chance the other woman said I could schedule a vet tech and it would be free and I just have to pay for the vaccine. The woman on the phone said she wasn’t sure, and she call me back. So about 30 mins later I get a call back and she explains to me that if I saw the vet tech it still be a $45 charge to bring him in. So I was already misinformed once... Then I ask her would I have to pay an additional $60 for a form that I already had you guys fill out, she has no idea and so she has to call me back. I get a call back a few hours later And she explains to me that legally they cannot update the form for free so I have to pay an additional $60 for something I already paid for and also I would have to pay to see the real vet which is another $55 along with a vaccine. So essentially I got ripped off and lied to. I told her I needed to speak to a manager and she nicely said that the manager is already aware of the situation and she’ll give me a call back. Waited five hours till they closed and never received a call back! Still have not received one today. I have reached out to client advocacy team to address this. I would like a full refund for the form.

Overall be aware of all the charges they add on, go down the road if you’re looking for affordable services. I fully understand that employees make mistakes and are sometimes are uninformed of company policies. But at the end of the day you as a company promised some thing and didn’t deliver, you should do right by...

This is the worst Banfield I have ever experienced and I've had a lot of terrible Banfield visits. Called the office as soon as they opened to request a prescription that had several refills available. We were visiting from out of town and my dog ran out of her arthritis medication so she was in pain. The person on the phone didn't know if she could help so she said she would check with the doctor and call me back. Unsurprisingly, we never got a call back. So within 30 minutes of the office closing, we stopped by to check on picking up her medicine. We were told the medicine had just been refilled by another location 30 minutes away. Ironic that our issue was only addressed when we showed up in person. However, instead of transferring the medicine to the location we were literally standing in front of, the front desk person with last name "Lutz" tells us that her and her doctor are unwilling to transfer the medication to their office. After I told her about what a headache Banfield has caused for me, but more so, my pet, she continuously told me it wasn't her fault, she works for a different office with "great Yelp reviews" and accused me of cursing at her, which was a complete and utter lie. This worker was egotistical and didn't like the fact that I was calling out Banfield's lack of professionalism and instead of showing me differently and providing any support, she refused to help a pet in pain. The office that did refill the medication was closing within 30 minutes so we physically couldn't get there in time. After repeatedly asking her to transfer the medicine to the location in front of us, she said she couldn't get in contact with the other office and couldn't do anything because the file was open at the other location. However, when we called the other office, we were able to get ahold of someone right away. While all of this back and forth swirl was happening, the "Lutz" employee walked inside, slammed the door, and locked it. Regardless of whether the other office was able to help transfer the medicine, we were now dealing with a hostile person and environment we didn't feel safe in. This terrible employee refused to let us speak with anyone else in the office in management who could actually help and she should not be allowed near animals with the temper she exhibited. Anything this unstable employee says otherwise can easily be proven false with store cameras.

Banfield is unprofessional but more...
