My fiance and I wanted to design a unique engagement ring, something that would be personal, elegant and of course, beautiful. We looked at several jewelers in the San Diego area and we finally settled with Irelia Jewelry. Boy, we lucked out! We approached Fernando with our initial designs and Fernando made the whole design process very smooth with his computer software program. Being a little bit of a techy nerd myself, I was impressed how easy it was to design the ring and include every nuance in the design with the software and then provide picture of what it would look like when it was done, as well as providing a physical model of the ring using a 3D printer. If we wanted to make alterations to the ring, Fernando was about as straightforward about everything- from making the ring as structurally sound as soon as possible (as you know, a custom-designed ring may easily bend, break or you may even lose a gemstone if not designed properly), to pricing out the gems as fair as possible, to providing deadlines; he devoted 100% of his effort to give you the ring that YOU want. Just be sure you and your fiance have a really good idea of what you want and that he knows it, and everything else will be smooth sailing.

As others have mentioned, Fernando and Irelia are about as friendly, knowledgeable and trustworthy as you can get from a jeweler. This being a small business, they really focus on giving you the best customer service, which may not be the case for many jewelry businesses. They made you feel comfortable from the start, they try to truly understand what you want, and they were very responsive in getting back to you during the whole ring designing process.

My husband originally designed my engagement ring and matching wedding band over 10 years ago at Irelia. Update: Irelia did it again! She breathed new life into my engagement and wedding ring, which had become disfigured after 18 years of wear (plus the softer material). Since it’s made of platinum, Irelia suggested welding it into my gold engagement ring. Now it’s more durable, looks brand new, and sparkles like the day I said, “I do!” Thank you, Irelia!
