I recently visited Massage Heights Carmel Valley and had an enjoyable massage. This review is about their business practices. I am a member and have been for several years. As an Active Duty Service Member, we move fairly often and, as such, my original membership was initiated at a different location. When I signed up for this membership, the idea of it being transportable among franchise locations was appealing. Apparently this location doesn’t honor the membership contract, because when I reserved a 90 minute session online, I was subsequently called and told there would be an up charge - in addition to 90 minutes worth of points I would have to pay an additional $30 to have this massage. I reluctantly agreed because I had already reserved this. Once I arrived at the location and went to finalize by bill and tip, I was told that the upcharge is “$12 for 60 minutes and $36 for the next 30 (90 minutes)”. What? I asked why the upcharge wouldn’t be $18 for 90 minutes if 60 minutes is $12. $36 doesn’t even make mathematical sense. I could have 2 60 minute massages instead of one 90 minute massage for less additional charge. Again, this is in addition to the 90 minutes I’ve already paid for through my membership. When I asked for some clarification on how this could be, and whether I could apply additional membership credit/points to cover this, I was given no sound answer but was told I could use points. Now that I’m home, I just received my electronic invoice and see that membership points equaling ANOTHER 60 minute massage were deducted from my account. So I paid for 2.5 hours of massage to get 1.5 at this location. I feel that I was completely scammed and taken...
Read moreDo not subject yourself to this frustration. The short synopsis: *Member for 12 years - seen the good and the bad *Aestheticians are coached to use massage oil on your FACE despite you paying an upcharge to use ACTUAL FACE PRODUCTS Owner would cancel appointments without any notice under the premise that I cannot come more than twice a month (despite having credits, employees complaining that the center is slow) - side note, I requested all my membership paperwork and it has no limitations. Management is unwilling to work with members who are incredibly loyal, even when they close a location for 2 years.
The long story: I was a member of Massage Heights for over 12 years. When the Encinitas location closed, I attempted to move my membership to Carmel Valley, which had the same ownership, since I was told multiple times the Encinitas location would reopen "in a few months." It has been about 2 years (my timeline may be off since COVID makes things difficult). In the meantime, although this location is significantly farther, I am unwilling to use existing credits ad-hoc without a full membership to Carmel Valley. Once I got a "new" membership in Carmel Valley, management would consistently CANCEL appointments I made without a phone call.

Read moreI've had a lot of massages over the years so I feel I am a good authority in this space. I'm a real estate agent that just took over the space right across from Massage Heights next to Pavillion's. I figured I would give them a shot and see if it made sense for me to go here on a regular basis. I tried three different therapists, all three were great. I like the convenience of being able to get a therapist at any time. However, when you find the one you like, then its a game changer. I would love to share with you my favorite, but then I will never be able to get an appointment with her. Ok.......I won't be selfish. I'm going to hook you up. If you want a massage from a real PRO that understands the anatomy and will help you heal from sports injuries.......Ask for Erin. She is AMAZING. She is strong AF. She will give you one of the best massages ever. Make sure you tell her you are here because of this review so she she brings her A game. Say you are a friend of Bobby Martins. She won't let...
