I've been having bad experience at Scripps all year, and after my awful visit here I am leaving and never coming back, and I'll also be reaching out to the licensing board. I went to the express clinic and was seen by Tait Christensen. I told him I thought I had strep throat because I had very painful sore throat, so severe that I was having trouble swallowing, talking, and that it kept me up all night. I received two swabs to the back of my throat, one for rapid strep test and one for the lab. He comes in after a few minutes to tell me that I was negative for the rapid test, and that I was also negative for Covid. I didn't even know they tested me for Covid, they certainly didn't take a specimen from my nose, but didn't think much of it at the time. Until later, when I receive a bill for hundreds of dollars for FOUR lab tests. Two strep test, one covid test (which was over $100), and one generic unspecified lab test. I called and messaged them multiple times over the course of few months, trying find out what this mystery fourth test is they are charging me for. I also told them I never knew they were testing me for Covid. I Never was informed or consented to or asked for that test, and asked them to take off the charge. No one at Scripps could tell me what the fourth test was for. They told me to just call the provider and ask him directly (which is quite literally IMPOSSIBLE to do with the way Scripps has set up their red tapes- I cannot contact the clinic provider at all). I told them no way, it is their job to tell me specifically what the bill is for, and that I am going to appeal it. Then they finally took the charge off. However, it's been months and they are refusing point blank to take the Covid test off (over $100 for a test that would have cost me less than $10 at home, but the more important issue to me is that I never asked for or was informed of the test and its cost, and I truly can't fathom where they got the specimen for that as they only took two swabs). I've been trying to reason with them but I just get the run around and threats to get my bill sent to collections if I don't pay. Not to mention, when I reviewed my visit notes Tait had only written my symptoms as "mild sore throat", which is not at all what I reported at the visit. The care provided is laughable and their practices are...
Read moreI went to this clinic yesterday with my daughter. We are both sick with sore throat, cough and fever. I did rapid covid test at home and was positive. I told the front Desck right away about my positive covid at home and they said I can be seen here. I paid co payment and shortly we were called into different rooms. I told the MA about my covid test and asked him to wear a proper PPE mask, he was not aware by front Desck he left the room immediately and changed the mask to N95 and finished taking my vitals. I was told to wait for the provider. I waited for half an hour no one came.to see me. Went again to front desk and was told to only wait in my room. Meanwhile my minor daughter was seen by the Nurse Practioner who told her from a distance to tell me to leave immediately because I have covid and my daughter probably has too. The nurse said to my daughter that we should have never came to them knowing that we have covid and we should have stayed at home and quarantine instead!!!!
I am a physician myself who works in a hospital at the border that was heavily hit by covid. I treated hundreds of covid patients during the pandemic and still do that . I never gotten covid from the hospital by wearing the proper PPE. I got covid from long flight where almost all passengers were coughing and not wearing masks . I never treated any one like this,. This nurse practitioner was unprofessional and I was shocked by this experience knowing that covid is widely spread now and they are a health care clinic that probably see patient with covid who are undiagnosed. I had the Worse experience there. They wasted my time and instead of talking to me they talked to my minor daughter. The nurse even refused to see me from a distance and was watching me talking to the MA trying to understand what to do. Don’t waste your time and do not go there.. scripps should do better job and not hire...
Read moreI visited the healthexpress at carmel valley couple weeks back for the server lower abdominal pain and UTI symptoms I had. I chose this place because this is in-network with my insurance plan. Two weeks later I got a bill of $1140 to pay. Apparently, the PA had ordered whole bunches of lab work without my consent and without letting me know that those specific lab work are not covered by my insurance. I called the billing department and they told me that they will put a hold on the bill to reassess the quote. Some days later I get a notice that the bill is valid and the amount has increased to $1170. I submitted the financial assistant application to at least get a discount since this was unexpected and unexplained bill which has been rejected. I recently graduated from school and I'm still paying off the debts I have from grad school. I was international student living on minimum wage for 7 years and I have very minum saving to go visit my sick parents in another country after 7 years and now I have deal with paying off this new bill over a very simple symptom to a in-network facility.
I called them and spoke to the providers unfortunately there's a minimum understand or help. But just imagine that you have an emergency symptoms and you visit this place and you end up owing 10K just because they might order whole lot of unnecessary lab works behind your back that you are even aware of it and they tell you that you are responsible to pay! This is insane and very unacceptable!
