Was able to get tickets to a Jason Marz show at Java Joe's a couple of months back. First off, Jason Mraz! Second, what a fun venue Java Joe's is! Intimate, fun, friendly and convenient. I noticed too, that there were a bunch of little shops around Old Town Local (where Java Joe's is) filled with ... duh ... local vendors! It was so refreshing to find local folks in this world of chain stores and amazon shopping. I looked around a bit before the show and found things I wouldn't be able to find in chain stores or online (local crafts, cigars, great local wines, art, gifts, and so on). It was so refreshing, and to know I was supporting local San Diego businesses and artisans made it even more special. Check out Old Town Local. First, when we entered, they closed the doors on all studios — that was just preposterous and infuriating. I was checking out an item on the outside while holding my camera in my hand, and they insisted that I had taken photos and threw us out. I tried to show them my camera screen that I hadn’t taken any photos, but they refused to look at it. “Get out, just get out. I’m asking in a good way.” No, that’s not a good way in any measure; that’s textbook disrespectful. Worst shopping...
