Brand new hair salon on the corner of Cass St in PB. At first, I was bummed to loose a coffee shop, but in hindsight, this is actually way better!

The place is brand new inside. Everything has been completely redone and it's definitely one of the nicest places in the area, let alone the other salons or barber shops. Parking is super easy and is free.

I think we're all pretty particular about our hair. I mean, we at least know what looks better or what looks worse, or subjectively, what was a 'good' haircut. I've tended to normally go wherever I could get in, assuming they had good reviews and were reasonably priced. And then I met Mercedes.

I've almost exclusively gotten my haircut by Mercedes for the past couple of years and it's sort of become one of those things I 'didn't realize I needed unless it was lost or stolen' kinda things...Only on a few occasions since meeting, have I gone elsewhere, and those other haircuts were the only ones I've regretted since - luckily, Mercedes can fix those, too.

Her work is excellent. She's just as good or better with clippers than any barber shop I've ever been to, and based on the number of female clients she also has, she's also just as good or better with scissors than any of the salons around. For those reasons alone, whether you prefer a short, medium, or long length haircut, I highly recommend this place...

I am a client of Aurora, who is very talented and awesome! When I first started seeing her in La Jolla about 7 years ago, I was frustrated with my hair color (it always looked too ‘warm’ to me) and also wanted to grow my hair out longer. My former stylist had told me that neither thing- having a more ashy base color or having healthy looking long hair was possible (she gave me some reasons, mostly age related- I was 40 or so- and having to do with having more grey hair).

Aurora overhauled my color using a combination of balayage and highlights and by creating a great ashy base color that lasts.By undoing some damage I was able to grow my hair to the length I wanted. It looked great! Aurora also gave me a great shoulder length cut when the long hair look had gotten tired. She is great with color and cuts but I also enjoy spending time with her at the salon. She is fun, funny, and a great listener both about hair and about life!

The salon itself is small, and I like it because of that. It is light, open, airy and very cute. Almost always, there is only one other stylist there so it feels spacious and private. Although the salon is on Cass St. in PB, I have found parking to be much easier than it was when I saw Aurora...

Freaking LOVE MERCEDES!!! She fit me in last minute for a desperate fix! I’ve been to 4 hairstylists and no one was nailing the look, then the last one was a disaster. I guess it’s a very difficult pixie cut, who knew? Mercedes was totally confident in delivering, which is exactly what I was needing. It’s SO hard to find a hair dresser who is PRO at short hair! She showed me all the different cuts she’s done and has even had herself and I just went for it. She got, not only the cut, but the psycho color corrected and made me feel like a super model. I don’t care if I have to FLY to this boss woman to get my hair done, she’ll always have me as a return customer. It really helps to know, she has incredible hair and has done this her whole life. She’s amazing. I’m so grateful she accommodated me last minute, to save my confidence! She’s really fun and easy to work with. Trust her! If I could rate her 10 stars, I would!
