I recently had to travel and wanted a personal iPad for my trip but didn't get a chance to visit an Apple Store before departing. So, I went to SoundBalance at Terminal 2 of San Diego Airport. I was looking for a basic iPad model, not an iPad Pro, primarily for watching movies and light personal use. Unfortunately, they only had last year's model, which meant it had a less powerful camera and a Lightning connector instead of a USB-C connector. The price seemed fair, and I was informed that I could return the iPad with the box and receipt for a full refund.
After my trip, I decided to return the iPad and opt for a newer model. However, my return flight to San Diego was delayed, and I couldn't reach the SoundBalance store before closing. Additionally, accessing the store beyond airport security without a boarding pass was a challenge. Attempts to contact the store through phone numbers listed on the website and Google were unsuccessful as they were outdated, leading to an unconfigured voicemail.
I reached out to the San Diego Airport Small Business Commerce Department, and a day later, I received a call from Angie Johnson, the Store Manager at SoundBalance. Angie arranged a time to meet, came out of the secure area, and collected the iPad, receipt, and credit card for the return. There was a hiccup with the credit card system declining the transaction, but Angie didn't let this stop her. She contacted her processing department to address the issue at their main center.
Although I had to do some legwork to get in touch with the store, the customer service experience was outstanding. Angie's excellent communication skills and her assurances to handle the return and resolve the issue were commendable. She lived up to her promises! I am impressed by the level of customer service and Angie's genuine interest in taking care of her customers. We got to the register, I paid, she took the charger out of the box and handed it to me to place in my purse. Did not realize until I got in the plane that the charger was only 3 ft.
