A very welcoming, grounded, and enriching community of people. The Konko Church of San Francisco runs various local events (some festivals, some community service-focused) and encourages local community groups to use the space downstairs to foster their own work. I really recommend checking out the site and contacting them if you've got questions, they'd love to take some time to show you around and answer questions. Some schools also have students visit for research projects on religions.

I got involved after working in the Bay Area for some months in 2017. As a younger, non-Japanese American, the communities here and in South San Francisco have provided me with an example that consistently keeps me grounded and patient. Through all of the craziness of the 2020s, they have led by example in taking a non-partisan approach and being there for people who are struggling.
