I had checked on the SFMTA (Muni) website where I should go in order to purchase a 7-day "passport " that entitled me to travel on all muni vehicles and the cable car going up to Fisherman's Wharf. I found this kiosk listed as one of the places where these "passports" can be purchased.
It is situated beside the cable car turntable: you won't miss it. The information board placed outside clearly gives the details of all the types of passes / passports that can be purchased and their relevant prices. The kiosk is manned by two people although I only saw one person actively involved in selling the passports or clearing tourists' doubts. They sit behind a glass screen and there's a microphone to help us hear what they're saying as it can get quite loud outside.
I went there on 2 occasions: first to buy myself the 7-day passport that costs $41 and then another time to buy a $13 1-day passport for my wife. The black lady who I saw on the first occasion was not friendly, but the Chinese guy who I saw on the second occasion was friendly and helpful answering my queries. Only the $5 day pass (not valid on cable cars) is not sold at this kiosk. I believe that is only available for purchase via the Muni mobile app.
The instructions for the use of the passports are clearly written on the passports themselves, but the staff are happy to explain should someone have a doubt on how...
Read moreThe kiosk where you buy tickets for the cable car & all other transport in SF was mostly a bad experience. The Asian girl working there was no help whatsoever, was rude & has no customer service skills. I don't understand why she's employed there, to deal with tourists when she's horrible to everyone. Another day a young man was better, but still answered in short sentences & didn't explain things fully. This is supposed to be where tourists buy public transport tickets, it's not too much to ask that the staff answer questions about public transport costs, timing limits on single tickets, how day passes work etc. Cable car staff are fantastic, witty, entertaining, welcoming of tourists, helpful - the staff at the kiosk need to...
Read moreThe nice lady (i'm sorry i forgot your name!! 😅) at the kiosk took her time to explain to us (tourists) about the muni passport.
Although there was a long queue, she answered our questions and was very helpful!!!
Thank you everyone in the queue for your patience 😘
Because she was so clear in her explaination, we enjoyed exploring SF by public transport! Thank you SF for your efficient public transport system and for the amazing people working the cable cars,...
