I only moved to San Francisco not quite even 2 years ago, and this was one of the first restaurants I ever tried… Probably, like, my second week here— and it is STILL my favorite place to go!!! (Especially when I need some comfort food after a long day). Honestly, you can’t go wrong when you order because EVERYTHING on the menu is soooo delicious.
Money is tight these days for me— like it is for a lot of people, especially since the pandemic. But anyways, whenever I get an extra $10-$20, my first thought will be “Omg YES, I can go to The Melt!!!!” And it’s definitely affordable/not too pricey at all.
My favs are the Mac Daddy (Mac N Cheese ON A SANDWICH?????? Absolutely genius). And their snickerdoodle shake is TO DIE FOR!! I’d have one every day if, you know, doctors approved of milkshake diets.
The craziest part is perhaps that even the staff is great! Especially Clark and German!!! They just go above and beyond for all of their customers, and treat their patrons more like they are friends than people they’re just doing business with. Personally though, I’m particularly fond of Lawrence, one of the security guards who comes in. Most security guards in this city are VERY mean and jaded and they think the worst of everyone, even paying customers. None of the guards (or the other staff) at The Melt has ever treated me like that. But Lawrence specifically went out of his way to make me feel better on a really bad day— made me feel like less like a customer and more like a human being just as important as any other. And while I connect with him the most, the other staff (especially Clark and German, who I have gotten to know and now look forward to seeing when I go in) are so kind and good at their jobs, making the restaurant have a GREAT vibe/atmosphere that you can really enjoy and relax in. And that is all at the same time that you’re enjoying some of the best food in the city! (Make sure you try their burgers, too!!!!)
Trust me, come here, and you’ll love it so much you might just eat until you’re fuller than you thought you could ever be! (Secret: Sometimes I need to unbutton my jeans after I order some of their Mac and cheese and one of those absolutely-to-die-for milkshakes, ‘cause it’s...
Read moreI had a horrible experience at this location. For starters, I ordered on the app. I received a text confirmation of my order and it said I'd get another text when my order was ready. I waited at least 15 minutes once I arrived and never got a text saying my order was ready. So I went to inquire why it was taking so long. I could hardly understand the 1st employee who I spoke to. I thought I finally got through to her what my name was. She grabbed a bag off the shelf where they keep the to-go orders but she acted like it wasn't my order and wouldn't give it to me. At that point another employee came to 'help' (the truth is neither employee was of any help whatsoever). I had an equally difficult time understanding the second employee. It's like they were both speaking a foreign language. The 2nd employee started talking nonsense, saying that my order number is the last 4 digits of my phone number. But she didn't even need to know that because my name (which I had already given to the 1st employee, hence why she had just grabbed the bag with my name on it) was printed on the receipt on the bag that the 1st already gotten. Then she tried to blame it on me, accusing me of having chosen a different location when I placed my order on the app. The 2nd employee finally read to me what what the order was in the bag the 1st employee had gotten. She asked if that was my order and I said it was. So I finally got my order after arguing with 2 employees for 5 minites. The food was getting cold at that point bit I didn't want to ask them to remake it so I just ate it.
What in God's name is wrong with people? The level of incompetence from these 2 employees astonishes me. The level of stupidity they demonstrated astonishes me. It was as though it was their 1st day on the job and that they had had little or no training. I'm not trying to belittld fast food workers, but you have to be pretty dumb to be so bad at such an easy job. I haven't had an experience this bad at a fast food joint in a long time, or ever. At least not bad enought that I feel compelled to call a business out like this. This place has gone downhill since I first started going there. I won't be going back...
Read moreNestled in the bustling streets of San Francisco, The Melt offers a dining experience that harmoniously blends comfort food with a touch of gourmet.
On a quest to satisfy my craving for something hearty yet tantalizing, I stumbled upon this gem. Spoiler alert: it did not disappoint.
The Star of the Show: Jalapeño Hamburger If there's one thing you take away from this review, it's that The Melt's jalapeño hamburger is a must-try. Juicy, perfectly seasoned, and with just the right amount of kick from the jalapeños, this burger is an absolute delight for anyone who appreciates a little spice in their life. Each bite is a harmonious blend of flavors that dance on your palate, leaving you wanting more. Garlic Fries: A Perfect Accompaniment What's a great burger without the perfect side? The Melt's garlic fries were nothing short of incredible. Crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, and infused with the perfect amount of garlic - every fry was a garlicky piece of heaven. These fries set a high bar and are a testament to how even the simplest dishes, when done right, can stand out.
A dining experience is never just about the food; it's about how you're made to feel during your time at the restaurant. This is where The Melt truly shines, thanks to its outstanding service. A special shoutout to Ignacio, who went above and beyond to ensure our dining experience was memorable. His attention to detail, friendliness, and genuine care for our satisfaction were what set this dining experience apart from the rest. It’s staff members like him that elevate a meal to an experience.
The Melt in San Francisco is more than just a restaurant; it's a place where comfort food meets excellence, both in flavor and service. Whether you're a local or just passing through, do yourself a favor and drop by. Between the mouth-watering jalapeño hamburger, the addictive garlic fries, and the exemplary service, you’re in for a treat that your taste buds will thank you for.
I left The Melt with a full stomach, a happy heart, and the certainty that I’d return. If you're on the hunt for great American cuisine with a side of impeccable service, look no further...
