It was a very confusing experience. Let's begin with the positive - the food is excellent and the restaurant is beautiful. We ordered the platha with coconut chicken curry, tea leaf salad, garlic noodles, lamb curry and spicy pork belly and they were all delicious. However, from the moment we walked in the service felt a little off. It was busy for a week night I guess so even though we had a reservation we were placed at a table with a view of the service area. Though it's a pretty restaurant we got the least pretty spot which looked more like a makeshift. The waitress taking the order was friendly. However the food was taking forever to come out and no body came up to provide an update. The funny thing is that during that time another waitress assumed that we were done eating and asked us if we would like to order dessert. Eventually the food arrived and as mentioned before it was delicious. As it got near closing time they asked us if we'd like to order dessert which we did. That took another 20 minutes to come out. During that time we had the pleasure of watching the staff wrap up for the day while not noticing that our empty dinner plates hadn't been cleared out or that the dessert we ordered had not come out yet. I asked for some boxes meanwhile to pack the left overs and also took the trouble to stack up our dinner plates and put them aside on the table next to ours which had not yet been cleaned. At this point I could say that I felt very much at home in the sense that I'd be doing these chores after dinner as well. Eventually the dessert came out which was pretty good. Then we finally paid up and were thanked by the friendly waitress as...

I’ll start with saying that the food was amazing. Everything we ate was incredible. However, we ate for 30 minutes and sat at a table being ignored for 2.5 hours. Here’s a little rundown:

Reservation time: 6:15 Seating time: 6:45 Water: 7:15 (30 minutes between sitting down and getting water). We were given 3 jugs of water for 15 people and had to get up to ask for more since no one came to our table again). First course: 7:45 (another 30 minutes between water and first course). No drink orders taken yet. Drink orders: 8:00 (drinks were not delivered for 30 minutes; after we had finished dinner. One drink was not delivered until after dessert) Second course: 8:15 Drinks delivered: 8:30 Dessert: 9:00 Last drink delivered: 9:15 Check: 9:30

Maybe if you have a small party it’s a different experience, but I’d highly recommend against attempting to take a large party here unless you’re willing to sit at a table with no food or drinks (even water) for hours.

Our server was aggressive when we asked for status of anything and blatantly ignored our table despite us making direct eye contact. We had to get up and go find them to get any attention, and then the attention was fraught with annoyance.

I’ve heard about Burma for years, but none of us will be returning and all of us will be sharing our experience...

Here’s the thing. It’s my 3rd time here in Burma Love and I’ve always liked the food they serve here

BUT when I went for a late lunch on Wednesday with my partner who was excited to try out the food I’ve told him about, we were both utterly disappointed.

The tea salad was so salty that day!! Actually being too heavily salted was the issue for *ALL the dishes - and that includes the eggplant shrimp. The fried peas were also hard AF. I feel like putting a drill into my teeth.

Mind you I’ve been here thrice and has never had this issue.

The eggplant shrimp is also utterly UNbalanced - both in the saltiness and the portion. We got maybe just 6-7 shrimps for a whole bowl of eggplants. How is that a well controlled portion?

It was also a slooow afternoon. We were the ONLY table there that day so how did the kitchen managed to mess up the dishes so bad??

Service was impeccable of course but the food really made me wonder if they’ve changed chefs or even the recipes themselves.

Honestly after this visit I might never want to return… it’s sad but if I’m gonna pay that amount for food that made me feel sick the rest of the day cuz of how bad they were I’d rather...

I was excited to try Burma Love for dinner, but my excitement faded as I encountered several letdowns. Even though I had a reservation and got seated quickly, my enthusiasm waned when our waiter seemed unsure about the menu. The table was sticky, and we didn't get our water refilled, which was strange for a quiet Thursday night. The hibiscus basil martini provided a fleeting moment of delight, followed by the exceptional shrimp cake som tom, which showcased the kitchen's talent. However, my optimism dwindled with each passing moment of subpar service and miscommunication. The beef curry and lamb kebat, accompanied by coconut rice, offered fleeting moments of satisfaction, but even these were overshadowed by the disappointing dessert experience. The dessert took a whopping 30 minutes to arrive. We had to explain to two different servers that we were still waiting, only to receive lukewarm fried banana and melted ice cream. Moreover, the dishes were too salty, necessitating copious amounts of water to wash down. In short, Burma Love started with promise but ended with disappointment. The service and execution fell short, overshadowing the decent food.

Heard great things about this place. Overall experience was fine. But the food did not disappoint. Really good food. Particularly liked the pork belly with mustard greens. Savory and balanced. I could eat that pork all day. Jasmine rice, beef curry, and eggplant shrimp were solid picks. Not a huge fan of the tea leaf salad despite it being a fan fave. Presentation and decor were top notch. Rustic vibes. Downside was the service. Bit of a wait despite the restaurant being mostly empty. Probably short staffed. Totally forgivable. But our server was not having it with us. Disinterested and seemed like would rather be anywhere else. Questions about the menu and food were replied with terse, even cold, answers. Again, I want to give the benefit of the doubt. Perhaps a long shift with staff shortage. Also, not a fan of the worker benefit service charge. I support the cause but why add it at the end of the bill without notice? I’d want it included in the price of the food. Pay them a proper wage! Suggested tip was on top of taxes and the extra benefits charge which left a bad taste in my mouth.
