I guess I was expecting a thrift store, but this seems more like a consignment shop. I was looking for a couple of furniture pieces of particular dimensions. I found a bookcase by a contemporary woodworking firm that was beautiful, and I would have been happy to have it, but the price tag at $775 was unfortunately not in my budget. If you can afford an interior designer on your project, and have quirky, eclectic taste, come here with your designer! It's the perfect place. If Ikea or Target online is about the top of your budget, but you're hoping to find a piece with more character, and structural and design integrity, well, you may have to look elsewhere. They have the Stuff, great Stuff, but it's not really at bargain prices.
There is LOTS of really cool artwork here, as well as nick-nacks of all manner and description. I could easily have spent a few thousand dollars here, starting with the $775 bookcase, which was high quality craftsmanship, by the way. There were several pieces of art that I would love to have had. But, again, my project is trying to do alot on a tight budget.
I browsed for close to an hour, which was good fun. I found the staff to be pleasant, and also rather quirky, like the rest of the place. I had limited interaction with them, as I never got close to actually buying anything. But I got several hellos and smiles and acknowledgments from them as I browsed. No one was pushy, I felt perfectly welcome just walking around, and I felt like if I had gotten to the point of buying, I would probably have received excellent customer service. They seemed great when they were helping other customers.
If you like eclectic and offbeat stuff, and you have the budget to match their offerings, this is the perfect place for design elements and a choice...
Read moreI am absolutely in love with this store! I understand from other reviews that there was a previous location and that the Pacific Ave store is new (1 year). I can't compare the two since I've never been to the older one, but I will say based on my isolated experience at the new place that I definitely want to come back. I visited twice and called on another separate occasion with questions, and every time staff were so warm and happy to talk!
I can see that prices are not exactly the lowest-tier, but I do think the selection, variety, uniqueness, and quality of the items for sale is impressive. I did buy four beautiful paintings during one of their two annual sales, which definitely helped out cost-wise. It might not hurt to call and ask about any sales ahead of time if there's something in particular you're looking for.
There are a lot of tasteful and neat finds here, and I'm so excited to return in the future to see what they cycle in. The stuff isn't "dusty," it's apparent that a lot of their items have been well-taken care of and are carefully curated. Just walking through is a fun, relaxing experience....
Read moreThis review if for the boy in the safety orange shirt who works point of sale.
I went to get a a shirt and when I ask if they could do a few dollars off he sternly and snarkingly replied âNo we canât do thatâ.
I asked well arnt these items from vendors and you can ask them, there must be a certain percentage they can take off.
He looked at me jaw on the ground an visibly upset and replied âwell yeah but we have to ask the vendor and that could take hours or daysâ.
Keep in mind itâs mid day and the store was empty, he was not busy at all just talking to the girl up front.
I replied I donât appreciate being lied to when I know that vendors do work deals (duh itâs a consignment store) and he had nothing to say.
Overall this kid was absurdly rude, up tight, negligible people skills, and very immature to lie.
I have been shopping small business for years in the East Bay but sadly will never return to this store due to the customer service...
