Think twice about Santa Fe Properties. I signed on with one of their agents (a husband and wife team). This agent cared ONLY about making a sale - and not about my benefiting as the seller. The female side of the team - when an offer was made - literally barged into my home while I was in bed, shouting "we have an offer." She wanted me to sign the agreement while I was still in my nightgown, without having my first cup of coffee She advised against negotiating the price with the seller, because "they never negotiated when the price was within 5% of the asking price." She advised me to throw in all my expensive patio pottery the buyer wanted because "they were only worth $25 or so." The pottery included 2 large pieces bought for $800 EACH, and several smaller pieces costing close to $100 each.
When setting up the contract, these realtors told me to include ALL appliances, including the clothes washer/dryer, since "it would be more expensive to move than to buy." Not so.
When I went to Santa Fe Properties to ask for another realtor to represent the sale process because I did not trust this agent to represent my best interests, I was told by their managing director that they wouldn't be able to find anyone else. Really? With a roster of 100 agents? I actually found one within their company, myself, in one day.
If you're a buyer, maybe they'll work for you. If you're a...
Read moreHal is an absolute joy to work with! I was a first-time home buyer with no clue about the process, buying a house completely by myself with my own savings, and with a low budget for the region (under $280K) – and Hal helped me buy my dream home. He’s fantastic with first-time home buyers; he walked me through each step of the process and made sure I understood everything. He genuinely cares about his clients – he steered me away from higher-price-point properties that would have been poor long-term investments, and trekked out to middle-of-nowhere houses with me. When we found my dream home he made sure we went to see it as soon as possible, and got my bid in within two hours, and celebrated with me when my bid was accepted. He also built into my bid that the seller would pay for all my closing costs – turns out, I wouldn’t have been able to afford the house without that! As the buying process went on he was always checking in to give me updates, make sure I understood my choices, and giving lots of emotional support. I could not have asked for or imagined a better real estate agent. Hal is simply the best, you’ll do yourself a favor by...
Read moreWingate Paine and Tommy Trujillo were the dream team of realtors!! They helped my wife and I at every step of the way through finding the right home, negotiating, thoughtfully explaining each step of the process, and getting us to the closing table at an excellent pace. I know they were working hard for us behind the scenes, but these gentlemen really made it look easy. It was not a hassle for my wife or I at any stage of the process. They were available by phone whenever we needed them, and any time we had a question (however complicated or obscure), Wingate and Tommy found an answer for us. They are also just incredibly friendly and fun partners to have had throughout this process, and that made such a positive difference. Home buying is stressful, sure. There's a lot to consider and many options to weigh as you go. It can be scary. But THESE are the guys you want on your side, walking with you every step of the way. I would recommend Tommy and Wingate to anyone looking to buy a home. If and when we buy a second home someday, we will be calling up Tommy and...
