I don't usually write reviews, but I have to write a rebuttal to the uniformed 1* review posted last week. In 2006, we first ate Rise'n Roll baked goods and pastries when the bakery was located at the farm house without electricity on the corner of 250 N and 1150 W in the heart of Amish country in Middlebury, IN. We have been many, many times since to their current Middlebury location. The donuts taste the same in Schereville as they always have in Middlebury. The original Amish owners, sold the Middlebury location to the English when production got too big. They still employ dozens, maybe over a hundred Amish and Mennonite people. The community is benefiting from the business, and no one is profiteering off of Amish culture. Since that time, the business has expanded to several Indiana locations. The donuts are not 'cheap' - the recipe is one of many passed down from the original owners. If you want cheap, mass-produced donuts cooked off site, go to Dunkin. Try the original cinnamon caramel donuts at Rise'n Roll (they are called Amish crack by locals in Shipshe/Middlebury). You will become a believer as everyone in my family has. How happy I was to visit family in Saint John and find a Rise'n Roll just miles away. And the place was packed - they are definitely going to make it. As it says on their donut boxes "For those who want the best... And know the...
Read moreThe donuts here are always great, that’s why I travel quite a distance to come here and spend my money when I have plenty of options close to home. My concern is when did Rise n Roll hire this grouchy older skinny lady with glasses that was working on 4/26/25? Very rude demeanor, nothing welcoming about the lady. Then she flips out when I point to a donut I want when I say I’ll take one of those. With an attitude she says all the donuts are right in front of you with the name on it. If these people can’t handle customer service and have crappy attitudes towards customers why keep them around? No smile, just a stone face like hurry up and pick your donuts attitude. Rise n roll is usually my go to, and I have plenty of friends and family that use this store. I hope management has a talk with this lady about her customer service skills or tell her to find a job working from how since she can’t deal with people or “ certain “ people. I won’t let this one incident ruin my thoughts about R&R but I’ll definitely keep an eye on this lady next time if she’s there, and I’ll be sharing with everyone I know that go to R&R to make sure this lady isn’t doing the...
Read moreCalled today at 6:24pm knowing they closed at 7pm to confirm they still had donuts left. We tried going on Saturday at 6pm and there was a sign on the door stating they were out of donuts. We still wanted to it’s and today was the next chance we had to try to get some. The call at 6:24 went like we already packed out donuts up but it’s mostly Carmel(which we like). One star for the third encounter of a negative experience. First one was when given wrong donuts ran back inside said what was asked for the young man said oh I thought this. You can buy more donuts. I had let that encounter go. Today was upsetting being someone who works in retail. Our store closes after the last customer is gone for the day. We don’t get to pack up early and stop servicing people.
