Updated: 8-20-2024 I was there several months ago and had high hopes for this place. Now that I went back, it was a lot less busy. I noticed that a lot of the deli meats were priced a lot higher than comparable meats at Shop and Save in Bridgeview, as were a lot of the same packaged Polish items. They do carry a lot bigger selection of Polish package items than Shop and Save. But the items they carry that are in common are far more expensive. Also the egg twist we bought was dried out- really bad. My view at this point is that unless they cut back on package item variety, and concentrate on volume sales of fewer items and price them competitively, and maybe move into a smaller space, they will be out of business within a year. If I were them, I'd change this store into a Polish ACYE Buffet restaurant like the recently closed Warsaw Inn that was highly successful for decades before the owners retired and closed the restaurant. That's what we really need in the area. Given the China Inn is in the same mall, they would have to open the restaurant in another location in the area.
Old review below.
Glad to see this deli here. The store concept is excellent. And the area needs it given its large population of Polish and Eastern European ancestry. Place is nicely laid out. Friendly staff, large deli selection of Polish meat and smoked fish. Large selection of imported Polish packaged items. Some tips for improvement. Some packaged meat items from other vendors are being sold after sell by date like Alex Kiska which by the way was over salted. Some deli items like Kabanosa are tasty but way over salted. That goes for the Krakowska which is lean very good meat but unfortunately way over salted making it inedible, I'd suggest that Carpathia source their Polish deli meats from companies that don't over salt their products ie Greenridge. The Olympia Baked Breads are very tempting but are not labeled with either a produced date or sell by date. That kept me from buying it. All that said, the prices for deli items and Polish Imported Items are not competitive with those at another Polish oriented store/Deli called Shop and Save in Bridgeview.Illinois. (However, I'd spend more money on gas driving to Bridgeview than I would save by buying the items there instead of here). But Shop and Save Krakowska and Kabanosa and Kiska are not over salted. And their breads are dated and packaged deli items from other vendors are pulled before sell buy day has passed. Anyway these are all business start up items that can can be quickly corrected. Now management can concentrate on correcting the few shortcomings I point out and...
Read moreI came here to get ideas for a dessert table for an upcoming party. I took home the kolaczki, and two of the layered cakes, an apple one and a tiramisu. I loved the fact you could buy a half size of the cakes. the cakes were really good. I would give them a four out of five. The kolaczki I thought we’re good, I would get them again, but my mother was a tougher critic. Although I came here for the desserts, I took plenty home from their deli area. Their hot items were wonderful. I tried the stuffed cabbage, roast beef, sweet cabbage, which is hot side item, and pierogies. I would buy them all again. the women behind the counter were so nice and let us sample so many items. It was packaged nicely. Price is good. The only thing that I did not sample, but took home was the potato pancake, which I thought was extremely greasy. But everything else was delicious. Plan on going back again this Friday. Also bought two loaves of bread a sourdough and a Polish rye. The price was very good especially on the bread, which is why I’m going back. There is a whole aisle dedicated to pickles, cabbage, and beets! The staff is very friendly. There is a huge selection of meats and cheeses that I barely got to explore. It will take me a few more visits to truly appreciate everything that Store...
Read moreI saw the ad on fb and decided to drive 40min to check it out. While the hot bar looked amazing sadly, it was not. My husband and I both picked out two meats and two sides for lunch and ate it right there at the picnic tables inside the front of the store. I wish it I could say it tasted as good as it looked but it didn't it was cold first of all which tells me that the food is not kept at the proper temperature which is alarming because I'm sure nobody wants to come home with the Galloping GI's! I got the breaded chicken and it was dry and chewy. I wish I could say I liked everything else on my plate but it was so cold that it was not pleasant. I don't know where Food Service agents are in Indiana but they should check these people steam tables for proper temperatures because someone is going to end up sick! On the other hand the grocery store part of our visit was very interesting it had a lot of items and the prices were average to what they are...
