Comfort Inn Schereville — Hotel in Schererville

I’ve been staying at this hotel 126+ days consecutively. After the 30 day I was entitled to a refund of taxes paid and no longer required to pay additional taxes for the remainder of my stay. This is all according to Indiana state tax law. This hotel has refused to refund my taxes and still continues to charge me taxes daily. They feel just because when they bill me out and check me back in that doesn’t entitle me to a tax refund. They clearly don’t understand the meaning of “consecutive”. We have been in the same exact room for 126+ days straight.Every time I try to address the issue they threaten to put me and my family out. We are constantly humiliated and embarrassed in front of other guests to make payment. When in all reality we are the ones owed a payment. This hotel has caused a financial burden on us. We constantly worry about being put out. We currently have no where else to go we even enrolled our children in this school district. Now we fear there will be some type of retaliation due to us submitting complaints. Any advice will be appreciated. The way guests are treated is very concerning. An employee informed me other long term guests are also staying at this hotel that are unlawfully being charged taxes. This hotel is opening them selves up for litigation. On 07/26/24 I was involved in a vehicle collision causing me to roll my truck over on the expressway. I take cold baths to help relieve the pain. Management has stopped me and my children from taking baths due to the bath water running being to “loud”. I don’t understand how the bath water running being to “loud” is our fault. We now take baths at our family and friends house to avoid any chances of being told there aren’t any rooms going to be available for us. The lack of empathy management has is truly disturbing. Clean, comfortable rooms with a great staff! This is our go-to motel when staying in Northwest Indiana. Welcoming lobby area where everything is spotless and tidy. Halls and vending areas were well maintained. Our room was very clean and refreshed daily during our week stay. A/C unit was one of the quietest we've experience in a long time. No grumbling and rumbling every time it turned on. Room lighting was good, towel and linens were more than nice, very good mattress and room seating. No complaints at all.

Front desk was always friendly and helpful. When ever we saw staff at the desk they always took time to smile and say hello. Jay took care of us at check-in and was extremely kind and outgoing, a great personality for this position. We met Tina taking care of the breakfast area and had a nice conversation with her, very personable. Breakfast always included hot items like eggs and sausage/bacon as well as a waffle maker. Plenty of fruit, cereal, yogurts, muffins and always presented well. Area is kept spotless.

After driving 10 hours to get home to GA, my wife realized she left her prized make-up mirror behind in our room. She contacted Ash the next day who quickly confirmed the oversight on our part and was more than happy to box up the item and send it to our home. So extremely kind! I may be missing a few names (David and Kendall? and others) but everyone was so nice.

This motel may not a fancy pool but it has everything one needs for a comfortable stay, the most important to us is being a kind, friendly staff, clean, comfortable accommodations and a nice breakfast to start the day. It's in a great area for restaurants and shopping, pretty much anything you need. Well lit parking area, always a safe feeling. Will stay here again in the future, high recommend you...
