Arrival 10:45, close @ 12. Cool. Walk in and decide to sit at the bar, since there's 3 bartenders and only 1 server working inside and the outside patio. Three bartenders are huddled together talking as we walk to the corner of the bar and sit down next to uncollected shot glasses and a big wet-spot. There's at least 3 female employees in partial uniform in a group of 6/7 people drinking at the bar. They're occasionally walking behind the bar to pour drinks and who knows what, but we're not paying a lotta attention, it's just not a good look.
There are about 7 "table parties" active at the bar, including our party of 2. It's almost 11pm before we give up on being ignored by all of the bartenders and finally ask one of them if it's okay for us to be served.
Food comes fast and we don't wait long for drinks. I apologize to our server if we were short with her, because we've both fasted all day and are hungry. The rest of the meal goes well enough for us to say we would like to come back and try this place again sometime soon. I was actually looking forward to it. The tacos were bomb and the price was right. We could drop our funky $70 here instead of Hooters or Fridays or Chili's or...
We're informed about last call around 1130, and our server/tender leaves us a bill. As we're finishing up, getting closer to 11:55, a second bartender who didn't serve us closes out our tab using the card on file, without confirming it. No big deal, but she should have asked before actually running that card. We're still finishing up. We're not the last table (more on that later).
At 11:59, the third bartender who never said a word to us until this point comes to ask if there's anything else we need and if we are ready - essentially - to pay and GTFO. To this, I'm taken aback. The first interaction you have after ignoring us when we first got here is to ask us to hurry up and leave. When we're not even the only table left in the restaurant.
So, we hurry and pay, but I let her know that it's rather rude that she comes by to rush and get rid of us when nobody even came by to serve us the first 10 minutes or so at least that we were sitting at the bar.
She proceeds to get loud with me at the bar in front of the whole rest of the restaurant. So, I ask to see the manager. I walk to the kitchen and find the manager. I don't know why the manager wasn't paying attention to the fact that his Bartender is screaming at a paying customer across the bar at this point.
I try to explain what happened, as the Bartender is yelling, "Why you looking for a Manager? He ain't gonna do anything." And she was right. As she's screaming now right next to the both of us, he's telling me something to the effect of "I don't abide my employees speaking to customers that way, but I also don't abide customers speaking to my employees ..."
At which point I've lost it. Literally spineless, and Zero Customer Service. Basically "Good People on Both Sides," and totally condoning an employee yelling in the face of a customer right in front of him. Zero effort made to give my issue any consideration or give my party any reason to feel welcome at all to come back.
And as we're in the parking lot, cooling down to leave, we see through the window the last table getting into it with the lone server that was left working the floor by herself while 3 bartenders spent the last hour chatting with their coworkers drinking at the bar and kicking it with the bar back as he actually seemed to be trying to do his job.
Were the bartenders working? Maybe. Was our bartender helpful once we were finally recognized? Sure. But, Michayla (?name on our check) came over and spoiled the whole experience, failing to recover from ignoring us at the beginning and making it so much worse by rushing us to leave and then getting loud and aggressive when we gave her pushback on feeling rushed.
The clear quality of the food was nowhere near worth the experience of being yelled at by a server I just gave money to and being rebuffed by the Manager AS THE SERVER SCREAMS IN...
Read moreBefore visiting Twin Peaks in Schererville, we had heard pretty good things about the establishment. After visiting twice for lunch, we were definitely not disappointed. Without a doubt, this is not your grandpa’s sports bar (with all due respect to your grandpa). This is a classy, fun, great atmosphere environment. Yes, they have pretty servers. But, once you sample the food, that will become the highlight of your visit.
Let’s talk about the food. We have tried the following menu items, with a brief review of each item. The Brisket burger. This is probably one of the best tasting items on the menu. Full of flavor. Huge portion. And something that you will not find anyplace else.
Fish & Chips. Quite tasty. No fried food taste (the frying grease used seems very fresh with no rancid taste like you might find in other restaurants.
Philly Steak Sandwich. The best Philly Steak Sandwich ever consumed. Lots of sirloin with grilled green pepper, grilled mushrooms and grilled onions nestled in between a delicious hoagy style roll. Highly recommended
Chicken Wings. We have been so conditioned to the wing selection in our area that we did not think these would be anything to rave about. Wrong again. First of all, these are huge wings. Not the little, skinny ones found at most other wing stops (see what I did there?). These are large, tender and perfectly prepared chicken wings with a large selection of your favorite sauce. We have tried the Thai Sweet Chili sauce, along with the Teriyaki. Both of them were delicious. We ordered the 6 boned in wings as an appetizer and suggest you do the same!
Let’s talk about the service. Generally speaking, the service was great, with the exception of the timing of the appetizers, which on both occasions did not come out until the main course was served, or well after. It seems they are getting the timing worked out as we happened to be dining when the proprietor of this establishment stopped by our table to check in with us. We chatted for 5 minutes or so, and can honestly say that he is one of the nicest businesspeople you will meet. Personable. He cares about his restaurant or more importantly, he cares about his patrons. He assured us they are working on the appetizer timing (as a sidenote, he removed the cost of the wing appetizer from our bill and provided them to us at no charge. We didn't ask for that, he just did it as a gesture of great customer service). We hope he is immensely successful in this establishment, as he has a significant investment in the restaurant, and with his customer focused attitude he deserves all the success he can get.
Lets talk about the atmosphere. In one word, fantastic. The place is clean, and comfortable and gives you the feeling of a North Woods lodge, with the best comfort food around (unlike some other North Woods themed restaurants in our area). These folks know what they are doing. And they are doing it right in a first-class way.
We don’t give a hoot about any of the other similarly themed sports bars in the neighborhood either now that Twin Peaks has arrived. Twin Peaks is king of the mountain. Give them a try. You won’t be...
Read moreMy party of 16 and I were happy to stop by Twin Peaks restaurant as we had never been but heard it was good food. Since we had a large party we called ahead to make sure they could accommodate us. We were assured we could get in, and there was no wait. When we arrived, we were told there was only a 25min wait. Ok, no big deal because I understood that ppl may have come in from the time we called. BTW, they don't do reservations, which I asked. So after 30 mins of waiting, we asked how much longer, we were told 25-30 more mins. We agreed because we were all hungry. After about 45 more mins, which is now over an hour wait, we were seated. The waitress said we could only do one check with our large party and that check could only be split 4 ways evenly. What!? Why had no one explained this prior to us waiting forever. We could have grabbed cash. Well, that did not work for my large party because we were not all paying in cash. However, I asked if the waitress could ask the manager onstaff could she make an exception since we we're not aware of their policy and had waited over an hour after being told there was no wait. The manager explained that that was their policy because people walk out on the bill. Although I can understand that, nothing prevents anyone from walking out now, even with one check, duh!!!. My ask was simple, could we pay 4 different amounts just not even amounts?. The manager could not make that decision, which is crazy....she had to go get her district manager. Apparently, nobody talks to each other, because when he came to the table, his name was Max or Matt, something like that, I had to explain the whole situation again. He began to tell me it is their policy and that he can split the bills, but our food will come out at separate times. We all came in together. Why would we sit at the same table, pay gratuity, and then we can't have our food together.... that did not make sense.... So I said, could you just tell them that we are all together that way they can make the food together? He said no. He then asked me, did I ask when I walked in what their policy was? I told him it was not my job to know their policy. It is his staff job to know their policy, and because they did not share that with me up front, he could have been a little more accommodating. However, he stood firm that we could only have one check and split it four even ways . Eventually, we walked out with no resolve. Managers can make exceptions, and I feel like he was not willing to make an exception, and he allowed 16 people to walk out of his establishment because he was unwilling to bend. So we went to Longhorn down the street and gave our money to someone who was willing to accommodate us with a smile. Customer service is important, and I feel like the leadership in this establishment dropped the...
