Looking for a food adventure that will make your taste buds do a happy dance? Look no further than Chef J Chinese & Dim Sum Bistro in sunny Scottsdale, AZ! Prepare to be amazed by the incredible flavors and creativity this place brings to the table. Let's start with their Chicken Pad Thai—a dish that elevates "Yum!" to a whole new level. The balance of flavors is so precise that your taste buds might just throw a parade in your mouth. It's a flawless symphony of tender chicken, perfectly cooked noodles, and a delightful blend of tangy and savory spices. Trust me, this dish is the definition of pad-thai perfection! Now, let's talk about dim sum—a little bundle of joy that bursts with flavors. At Chef J, their dim sum is a work of art. The Soup Dumplings, also known as Xiao Long Bao, are heavenly. Each bite unleashes a savory explosion, leaving you longing for more. The Shumai? Oh my, they're simply shu-mazing! These delicate dumplings are the epitome of culinary finesse, packed with a delightful medley of flavors. Ah, the Har Gow—these translucent little delights are so stunningly beautiful that you might hesitate to eat them. But trust me, your senses won't forgive you if you resist. The plump and juicy shrimp encased in a delicate, perfectly steamed wrapper will transport you to dim sum heaven. And let's not forget the Scallion Pancake—a crispy, flaky delight that will make your taste buds dance with joy. Each bite reveals layers of delectable scallions, expertly woven into a golden-brown pastry. You'll be torn between savoring every bite and devouring it all at once! To quench your thirst, their unsweetened iced tea is the elixir of refreshment. It's a perfect balance of coolness and flavor, ensuring that each sip complements your dining experience flawlessly. Now, brace yourself for the grand finale—the Fortune Cookie! It's like a little gift from the universe, offering you a glimpse into the unknown. Crack it open and reveal the wisdom within. Who knows, it might just be the extra sprinkle of good fortune you need! So, if you find yourself in Scottsdale, AZ, don't miss the chance to embark on a flavor-filled journey at Chef J Chinese & Dim Sum Bistro. From their mesmerizing Chicken Pad Thai to their tantalizing dim sum creations, this place will transport your taste buds to a world of culinary enchantment. Bon appétit! #FoodieHeaven #DimSumDelight #ChefJCrushesIt

This is one of the MOST expensive versions of Singapore noodle I have ever had. It's also the WORST version I've ever eaten. It's a decent size portion. (This is half eaten) per my request it was chicken only. However they said they would add more chicken to compensate for the difference, they LIED!!! There's almost no seasoning. They chicken has no flavor because it was OBVIOUSLY cooked separately. To give an example it tastes and looks like boiled chicken that was mixed into the dish just before it came out of the wok. There's almost no spice at all. This is a piss poor example of this dish. NEVER order it. Also I wasn't acknowledged or anything. I had to enter the restaurant from the vestibule before seeing anyone. When he did see me, he didn't say anything and ignored me until I asked if I should sit just anywhere. Then when I was done he had disappeared. I had to wait for him to come out and was about to ask if I should pay or just leave. But he saw me look at him and brought my check. Put some contacts. I've eaten here before and liked it. The food I had today was the least good dining experience I have had in about 10 years. And also the worst Chinese food I've had in about 10 years.

We tried Chef J’s again because we saw that they had a grand reopening and had changed to a Dim Sum and Hot Pot restaurant. We were excited to try the menu because we’ve always wanted to try the dumplings and boa buns but never could decide on what to commit. This change allowed us to sample a lot of things we wouldn’t normally get and the staff was very attentive. It’s a little confusing, but essentially the menu shows a lunch price and a dinner price but you can do a the All You Can Eat, or you can order separately, as well as specialties or chefs entrees (which specialties and chefs entrees are not included in AYCE). But there were so many options to try, and that was a lot of fun to do as a family. If you want to do hot pot, just make sure to mention that up front as they will seat you in a different are to enjoy that. If you’ve been here before, we recommend you give it another go for this different dining experience for lunch or dinner.

We were craving Dim Sum but didn’t want to drive far, so we decided to check out Chef J Dim Sum & Chinese Bistro after seeing some positive reviews online.

When we arrived, the nearly empty parking lot made us a bit skeptical about the restaurant's popularity. We noticed a cardboard sign by the entrance advertising the day’s specials, with “Js + landmade dim sum” catching our eye. The term “landmade” piqued our curiosity, so we decided to give it a try despite our initial hesitation.

Inside, there was no one to greet us at first, but a sign instructed us to wait to be seated. After a few minutes, someone finally appeared and told us we could sit anywhere we liked. The interior had more of an American Chinese food vibe than the authentic experience we were hoping for.

Despite the initial impressions, we explored the two available menus—one for lunch specials and the other for dim sum. We ordered J’s signature fried rice, Shumai, sticky rice, and pan-fried pork dumplings. While we expected the dim sum to take some time, the fried rice took a bit longer than anticipated. To add to our concern, a loud sneeze from the kitchen made us worry about the cleanliness of our food.

Despite these initial doubts, we were pleasantly surprised. The signature fried rice was flavorful and generously packed with chicken, shrimp, and sweet corn. The dim sum that followed looked and tasted authentic, with each piece appearing handmade and uniquely shaped.

So, the takeaway here: don’t judge a restaurant by its parking lot or cardboard sign. Chef J Dim Sum & Chinese Bistro may not have the most impressive exterior, but if you’re in the area and craving Dim Sum, it’s definitely...

Went here because Yelp showed this place as hot and new! Instead of hot and new it should have been horrid and inedible. We sat down waiting for a clean booth, and when our table was ready, it was amazingly dirty... I had to ask for menus, response was, “oh yeah!” We were served their complimentary won ton chips with sweet and sour sauce. We both took one bite and it was clear the chips tasted like greasy cardboard and the sweet and sour sauce was rancid. We asked one of the waiters to take it away and ask the chef to check the sauce. Instead of an apology for how bad this was, we were told well this is free... ... Well This experience should be interesting... The food came out and despite us being there at 8 pm, it was empty so the food should be fresh and more attention to quality. NOPE! Food was bland, chicken was over cooked and neither of us wanted to finish, and one of us wasn’t even asked if we were still working on the plate, like they already knew we were eating bad food... The only positive thing is the rice which was served in such a large quantity that it could have fed a table of 8 easily for just the two of us. Felt like a waste to leave it but we lost our appetite. They should charge more, stop giving out “well it’s free” food and portion better so they can serve better food. Unfortunately I had to pay for this dinner because I lost a pinball game but at least my company was entertaining. We will...
