I have recently been on an epicurean journey to the flavorful land of tacos at Gordo's Tacos in Scottsdale, AZ. Spoiler Alert: This gastronomic escapade was nothing short of extraordinary!
As I walked into Gordo's, I was instantly greeted by a friendly staff and the tantalizing aroma of traditional Mexican cuisine. But that was only the beginning.
The first stop on my taco tour was the Al Pastor. If I were to describe this marvel in one word, it would be 'exquisite'. The marinated pork was cooked to perfection, embodying a sweet and tangy symphony of flavors. Paired with the delicious pineapple and onions, each bite was a delightful dance of textures and tastes. It felt as if every tastebud on my tongue was having its own fiesta!
Next was the Queso Birria. To be honest, it feels like an injustice to call it just a taco. It was a mouthwatering fusion of gooey cheese and succulent birria that was so mesmerizing, it practically demanded its own food category. Every bite was a flavor bomb of creamy, cheesy, and meaty goodness that left me craving for more.
Lastly, I dared to venture into the spicy territory of the Diablo Shrimp taco. The name is not an overstatement! This zesty and fiery masterpiece was perfectly balanced with succulent shrimp, providing a bold flavor ride with each bite. It was spicy, saucy, and sensational, a culinary daredevil that thrilled the palate.
In conclusion, Gordo's Tacos is not just a restaurant. It is an unforgettable flavor fiesta, a place where every bite is a celebration. A haven for all taco enthusiasts, it should be on everyone's 'must-try' list.
Whether you're a local or just passing through Scottsdale, do yourself a favor and stop by Gordo's Tacos. Your taste buds will thank you!
Overall, I'm giving Gordo's Tacos a well-deserved 5 out of 5 stars. I can't wait to revisit and explore more of...
Read moreI want to give it 3.5 stars but it would not allow so I went up. I tried a couple of each taco and overall the flavor was good for most of them but not great. The consume made them taste better but shouldnt be needed. I tried the carne asada, birria, queso birria, adobada and carnitas. The carne asada, adobada and carnitas were all good but needed the consume. The adobada did not look visually good but the meat had alot of flavor. I'd pass on the birria next time. Queso Birria was very good but $6.5 dollars was steep. My biggest complaint was the price, its just to expensive to want to go back. I mean $5 for a carne asada taco is crazy, atleast throw some guac on it. I went on taco tuesday so they were cheaper but also alot smaller. If you go somewhere on a taco tuesday you expect to get a "deal". But still spending $3 for each street taco is alot when two bites later it's done, especially when its basically just the meat. I asked for salsa and limes I was given one salsa and like 5 limes for 12 tacos, minor overlapse but affected how the tacos tasted. Overall, this place may do fine since its Scottsdale, the flavor will be considered good for the area and the price wont affect to many around here. But probably won't come back unless...
Read moreIs it just me or have they tamed their menu to the palate of our Midwestern transplants? With all the fantastic reviews I guess they found their niche in this suburban barrio of the mundane. Shrimp diabla is typically prepared with enough heat to sweat out your sins of the day. This was the most tasty of the tacos I sampled but this was in large part accomplished by adding Mexican mayonnaise to the diabolically mild red sauce. My 90 year old dad had the award winning quesa birria tacos that typically break a sweat at most Cali taco joints. but Gordos has none of the mucus clearing qualities of a rich red chili broth. The carne asada was good but without some mouth watering fiery condiments it seemed pointless. They do have trendy Scottsdale prices but I’d rather get twice the bang for my buck at any authentic west side or downtown eatery. Spending $35 for 4 tacos and two tiny cups of “spicy” salsa was a one time experience for...
