I usually never write reviews, but I had such a terrible experience here that I needed to share it.
I came in for a Valentine's Day flash tattoo since Valentine's Day is my birthday on a whim. I get there, the person greets me and is super professional. Honestly, whoever was the receptionist was great. Clear, direct, and honest about the wait time, but still made me feel welcomed in the space.
The tattoo artist did not.
I am very feminine, proud trans woman, but something about that fact was not clicking for the tattoo artist. Despite the fact they do ask for pronouns on the waiver, the artist kept on misgendering me and kept telling me how cool it was for me to get such a 'feminine' tattoo as a 'dude'. I reminded him that I am in fact a woman. He had another tattoo artist watch him work for a bit, which is fine, but he kept on misgendering me. Also, he just acted like I wasn't there and twisted my arm to a very uncomfortable position to show off his work.
His very bad, sloppy work.
This is by far the worst tattoo I have. The lines are comically uneven, parts of my skin very obviously scarring and raised. This tattoo is all line work with no color, and practically no shading. He also did not wrap my tattoo properly despite me asking him to make sure my tattoo was properly wrapped. Usually, I get care instructions of how to take care of my tattoo, and was pretty surprised I didn't get anything except use lotion on it? I know everyone has their own methods, but I just found it odd that the only thing he told me was to make sure I lotion it.
Just like a shockingly bad experience that left me with a tattoo that I am embarrassed to have on my body, and am actively saving to...

My wife and I came in as walk-ins, looking to get a tattoo for our tenth anniversary. The front desk girl was super friendly and so were the artists. I called ahead to make sure they were available, and they had someone waiting for us when we got there. We elected to get "I love you" in each other's handwriting with our anniversary date to commemorate ten years together, and they were able to execute the simple idea perfectly. We wrote it on a piece of paper, and they scanned it in, sized it, and had the tattoo started in less than ten or so minutes.
The only rub was no one told us this shop was cash only or the price of the tattoos prior to starting. In the twelve years I've been getting tattooed, I've never come across a shop that didn't accept some form of electronic payment. In fact, when researching other shops looking for someone to take us in Seattle, most shops are only accepting electronic payment to reduce Covid transmission, so the cash only policy was surprising. While I get that Seattle is going to be more expensive than our relatively small town in Texas, even in Austin these would be shop minimum $40-60 a piece. The tattoos were $150 a piece, and I ended up having to leave my wife there to go get cash as a second artist was setting up her tattoo. Luckily there was an ATM in a pizza shop a two minute walk away, but I could have gone there first if I'd known.
My only suggestion, especially for travelers, is to make sure you're aware they are cash only, and make sure you discuss price upfront to avoid sticker shock. Otherwise, the experience was a good one, and I'd recommend them for...
Read moreIn documentation per today's events, I arrived at Geniustattoo approximately 15 minutes ahead of my scheduled 1 pm appointment with Justin. I was informed that the preceding client required additional time, leading to a projected delay of an additional 20 minutes, which I patiently awaited. However, by 1:20, the anticipated time had extended by a further 20 minutes without any confirmation of an imminent start.
At that point, having experienced a cumulative wait of 40 minutes without assurance of prompt initiation, I approached the front desk to explore the possibility of rescheduling. Once Justin came over I expressed my dissatisfaction regarding the unforeseen duration of the wait, as it substantially exceeded the initially communicated delay of 20 minutes. Additionally, I mentioned my pre-existing commitments that were affected due to the extended wait.
Regrettably, instead of an apology or acknowledgment of the inconvenience caused, I was advised not to schedule any post-appointment plans in the future. From a client's perspective, this situation was not handled with the expected level of consideration. I believe it's the responsibility of the artist to manage scheduling conflicts and respect the agreed-upon appointment times.
Upon reflecting on this occurrence, I am not interested in rescheduling and am respectfully requested a refund of my deposit. I upheld my commitment by arriving promptly for the appointment, yet the allocated time was unexpectedly given to...
