We brought up our concerns from day one, when we were told our unit was “move-in ready”—despite black mold being visibly present all throughout the bathroom. We immediately raised health concerns, but were dismissed and reassured that we would be “fine and safe.” We made it clear we wouldn’t be officially moving in until the issue was resolved. The property manager told us he would submit a maintenance request. However, he never followed through, leaving us to submit the request ourselves. We then had to call the office nearly every day to complain about the lack of action, until the property manager was fed up enough to finally paint over the mold himself. He blamed the previous tenants for the issue.
We were supposed to move in on September 16th but didn’t officially move in until the 29th. Still, we paid a full month’s rent—even though we only lived there for two days—and no exceptions were made. That was a rough and frustrating start.
To be fair, things were peaceful for about a year. The mold didn’t return, and we kept the unit spotless. But as we entered our second and final year living here, everything started to fall apart again. My car has been broken into several times in the garage. Luckily, no windows were broken in my case—but I’ve seen at least three other cars with smashed windows. They lie and say there are cameras, but there are no cameras in the garage. There are also zero amenities. For the price we pay, it’s absolutely ridiculous.
We also had an issue with the technology they use for the door locks. Our original keys were fobs but one day, the system just malfunctioned. It left us locked out of our unit, and maintenance had to come out to help. The only solution was for them to drill a hole through our door at midnight.
As we are on our last few months of our lease there is a severe moisture issues. Excessive condensation on the windows, pooling water, and eventually, mold returned and grew in new areas in full force. We reported it again, even hired our own mold inspector, who confirmed dangerously high mold levels in the unit. The property’s response? Temporary fixes like treatment sprays and paint—never addressing the real issue: the moisture.
As if that wasn't enough, the mold is now so bad that I wake up every morning with rashes all over my body. I’m constantly congested and struggling to breathe. The only relief I get is from sleeping with the windows cracked open—and we live in Washington, so that’s only possible when it doesn’t rain. Despite all of this, they refuse to even have a conversation about lease termination or how they actually plan to fix the root moisture problem that’s keeping the mold alive.
When we had a leak in the unit, we were told by maintenance that it was a roofing issue currently affecting an entire stack of units. We were told to “let it drain,” and it's never been properly addressed.
Some individual staff are nice and try their best, but Asset Living as a company has shown they do not care about their residents—especially students. That was made especially clear during my first and only interaction with the regional manager, Cynthia. She left a voicemail a week prior, after that I immediately contacted management on our preferred method of communication However, they did not respect our request for email communication. The following week I receive another call, had less than a minute conversation informing her that I was at work. Her response? “I don’t have time to keep calling you.” Even though we made it clear that we wanted communication to be handled by email for accountability, but it’s clear they simply don’t care to follow through.
As someone who works in property management myself, I know how important communication and transparency are. This is not how you treat people. If you’re thinking about living here, know your rights and document everything.
Even the name “Lakeview Apartments” is misleading. And of course, I bring the receipts.
Edit: my only response to whoever responded instantly to my review is the new photo I...
Read moreI have lived here for 2 years now and for the most part things were fine. Begin a student, I have bigger things to worry about than most issues I've had throughout my stay here. But with the current situation I am very disappointed with how me and my fiance are being treated. When we moved in, there was mold in our apartment and management was dismissive about it. We were told that were safe staying here. It has now grown back and pretty severely and the mold inspector we hired confirmed this. It has been a month of back and forth with management and it seems like they are refusing to serve us at this point. We asked to discuss a plan to resolve the water that is leaking from our windows and it's like they ignore the question. We have asked to be let our of our lease and they won't even directly give us a reason as to why we can't, despite them violating the lease contract by not providing us with a safe living condition. They offered to relocate us but we have lost all trust in the community being safe. They never even offered us movers as I am currently temporarily disabled after an ACL repair surgery. They never offered to cover cleaning fees and that we wont be held liable for both apartments. Or even guaranteed us to not be held liable for the mold infestation and leaking windows. Now they are claiming our refusal to transfer being the same as refusing maintenance work on our apartment. But we have work orders submitted that have not been addressed in weeks. This past month, they have practically done nothing but cause us more stress and furthering my fiance's chronic skin condition. If they truly cared about us they would let us leave without penalty. It's been 2 weeks of waiting for a response but I am sure they will respond to this review instantly, which says a lot.
Edit: Now that we have reviews posted they want to get back to us after 2 weeks of silence. Then they illegally closed out 2 work order that were not completed. 1. leaking windows 2. water from roof leaking to the unit. These are two separate issues. They are claiming they saw no evidence of water leaking from the windows despite several photos and...
Read moreI would give 0 star if I could. The rent is expensive with the amenities they have (only 2 or 3 washers/dryers, no gym, no rooftop, apartments are small, and package got stolen few times). My car got broken into once even though I parked in the "PAID", "SECURED" garage. And there was no security camera at all near the garage. I don't see a point for the paid parking, apparently it was not secured. Later I went to the office to get my garage remote replaced since it was also stolen, the office's door was locked during the business hour, I called them, and they are in the office, but they let me wait outside of the office for half an hour because she was "working on something else". -- Worst customer service ever! They refused to do anything to prevent it happen again, refused to waive my parking fee for the month. But what's more, they don't really care about their tenants; they refused to change the garage code even if my remote got stolen and someone could potentially break into the garage again; because "that was too much work for them". I highly doubt the parking garage would be broke into again. Stay away from this...
